Default Musings on the Muse Two

I have been drooling over this bag for what feels like a lifetime, but finally got my mitts on one (temporarily) in store just the other day. I know you all know what the bag looks like, but here is a pic for reference so you can see what I try to describe further down...

I have to say I am kinda dissapointed in this bag --no offense to anyone that owns a Muse Two. I certainly wouldn't turn it down if I was offered one, but I am, to put it nicely, "conservative" with my money. I just don't think I could justify buying one because it falls a little short of my personal expectations.

What are my issues with it? Well, for one I didn't realize this bag is actually suede or canvas with leather panels attached. It makes for an interesting look, but doesn't cut it in the functionality / durability department for me.
The flap opening itself leaves something to be desired as well. I will admit the bag has the softest smooshy leather ever, but that actually works against its functionality. The flap is a real pain to close and impossible to do so with one hand. You have to have one hand inside the bag supporting the toggle knob thingy, close the flap over your hand to get the circle opening on the flap to catch on the toggle knob, then wiggle your hand back out. You can try to latch the bag without one hand inside, but good luck with that.
Then there is the top handle. I knew it was attached to the flap, but didn't see the problem with this til I held the bag. With some weight in the bag, the handle pulls at the flap taking away from the original aesthetic. Also, if you don't get the flap latched correctly, the flap flies open when you grab the top handle, the body rolls forward, and your stuff spills out.

Don't get me wrong, this bag is gorgeous. I just don't know what the folks at YSL were thinking as to the usefulness of this design. Perhaps it is meant to be carried only as an accessory, rather than be used functionally.
    hmmmm... maybe something RED next

Oh no I'm sorry this bag didn't work out for you! From pictures this bag is gorgeous, but haven't been able to see one in person.

My feeling is, if you're not happy with something that you paid a lot for, then it's best to return it. I think you did the right thing.

Is this bag still in style? I'm currently looking for one on ebay.

I still love this bag! I think bags are always in style, no matter what. Unless it's something outrageous, I think you can always wear a bag now matter how long you've had it.
