Default Can someone explain the live.com 25% off thing to me?

I've seen it on different auctions and people have been talking about it, but what exactly is it and how do you get the discount?

So basically Microsoft Live is doing this "cashback" program with various etailers. The percentage of cash back you receive from your purchase varies. For example, eBay (which is now 8%, not 25%, unfortunately). On eBay, you need to use Buy-It-Now. It's not valid on Best Offer, or bidding.

With any cashback transaction, you have to first go to Live Search, then click on the cashback link in the upper right corner. It will tell you to set up an account.

Then, you can search for items via cashback, or click on the etailers' links directly through live.com. You will receive a % of cashback on your purchase made through that link. The catch is that it takes 60 days from the date of purchase, but hey, it's better than nothing.

eBay is a bit tricky because you have to try to get to eBay by searching on the "Web" part of Live.com. It's not going to show up as an etailer store link. So I would do something like search for Louis Vuitton or Rebecca Minkoff and you'll see a "cashback" icon next to a link for eBay. I know this is sort of confusing but that's the only way I know how to explain it.

Anyway, since I last posted my great finds (ShoeMall @ 47.5%, eBags @ 27.5%, eBay @ 15%), those percentages have changed significantly, so make sure you do your research if you're going to use the program.

And you can get these cashbacks every time you purchase something?

Also, what do they use as money? Another words, can I use a Visa or Discover card to pay for things or does it have to be a bank account...

Thanks for the explanation! I'm going to bookmark this. I had no idea what these sellers were talking about before!

Certain sellers might have limits on how many times you can get cashback.

eBay limits you to 6 Buy-It-Nows (it might be 8) and the maximum cash back per transaction is $200, even if you purchase a $10,000 item.

You can usually pay by whatever method the etailer accepts, including credit cards and PayPal. Bank accounts are not required.

I have to stress the importance of using the live.com provided link in order to qualify for cashback.

If you go to Live Search cashback - Live Search there should be detailed explanations, limitations, etc.

I didn't get it either, so thanks for explaining it!

How does it differ from Big Crumbs and Kick It Back, cash back wise?

    Anyone know?

^ daisy, I've never heard of those cash back programs, but I can say that Microsoft is definitely a reputable company and should uphold its promises of cash back.
