I HATE Platos Closet, I cleaned out a good but of my closet, most of the stuff STILL had the tags, one sweater with the tag attached was priced higher than what they paid me back.

Cool Re: Plato's Closet

This is why I fantasize about an International Handbag Order Police (or IHOP to whom people and establishments that sell fakes could be reported via a convenient, easily remembered 800#

That's good to hear they they don't knowingly accept fakes. At least at the one you shop.
Maybe you could sell your authentic ones on ebay? Or in the Marketplace?

Hollister isn't that expensive...it's like $15 for a t-shirt.

For a 16 YO who doesn't work and eats $300 worth of food a week, it is. Plus, they only wear that and have to wear white polos to school for the uniform (need 5 of those) plus the jeans and the khakis and the hats...

Kid is lucky to have a stepmom like me who will fork it out. It comes usually out of "my" fun money (we have joint money, and I have money on the side that I earn doing independent consulting on the side that I can use to spend) ... My husband is like...well, you can get 5 white polos at Wal-Mart for $5 each, that's $25 and you can get five pairs of khakis for $9 each, that's $45, so your school wardrobe budget is $100.

I wish I could get away with spending only $100 for school clothes.

Petition the school board to enact uniforms. Our district they can wear plain white polos, or school logo polos (convieniently available for purchase at the school board office as well as the uniform stores ran by students located in each Middle/Junior High/High school...); in the winter they can wear school logoed hoodies, or long sleeved white polos.

They have to wear khaki, black, or navy bottoms. They can't be above the knee, and they cannot sag. Shirts have to be tucked in, and no belts. Shoes have to be neutral in color with white or black laces only.

I spend like $250 on school clothes only because I like the kid to have nice things (I feel guilty their parents arent together and so I buy things to make myself feel better-selfish, yes...but the kid doesn't mind)

Uniform is strictly enforced too...one day the kid wore a plain grey polo and they sent them home to change!!! I had to beg them to let them stay until my lunch hour, since the school is less than three miles from my office and I didn't want to take personal time to get him (hubby was 2 hours away)

I dropped over $600 last year for shirts, pants and sweaters for my crew. The school only allows you to purchase from Land's End and the embriodering of the school logo is $15 a shirt/sweater. I'm dreading this year's run. My daughter won't wear anything boyish and my son won't wear anything girlish. And they are the same size! It would be so easy to just buy reds, greens and navy's but nooooooo... dd won't wear red, navy or green. She wants pink, yellow and pale blue shirts. And then the sweaters have to be cardigans with the pearl buttons. Ds only wants crewnecks. So much fun.

The local Plato's Closet is nasty. I've been in once. They don't sell purses at all because of the fake issue. The Seven and True Religion jeans are on a special rack at the back of the store. I just feel weird about trying on clothes that are used. I want everything either brand new or having been washed thoroughly.
