Default My mother-in-law is a poopie head!

Okay, we were over at their house for Easter. My husband's mother is talking about what she had heard about going to Disney World... yadda yadda. Suddenly she said that so and so had mentioned this place where they have boat-loads of Disney merchandise. She said that I would probably like it. I looked at her confused and asked her why I would like it. She answered "Well, you like shopping." And I was thinking, yeah I like shopping but not for Winnie The Pooh T-shirts! Annoyed, I said something about wanting to head over to the outlets. What did his mom say? "Oh, I don't think we'll have time to go all the way over there." Oh hell no! I am going to those outlets even if it kills me!!!
Well, the worst part about this whole conversation was that his mom sounded like she was expecting us to all stick together for the entire week we were down there. Oh... and she wants us to take turns cooking at the condo. WTF?! If I'm going on vacation, then I'm going to be eating out at some cool restaurants! UGH!

LOL! No... its going to be weird bad enough as it is. Especially if my hubby gets some ideas if you know what I mean. I don't think I would be comfortable with that!
But yeah, I certainly won't want to follow them around everywhere. In fact, I doubt I'll be able to stomach more than a day or two at Disney World. They do have other attractions in Orlando, you know! Do you think she would be pissed if we rented a car? I just want us to be able to go wherever we want whenever we want, you know? And heck yeah, I'm going to be eating out while I'm there! Why cook there when you can cook when you're at home? Why not just stay home then? LOL!

Oh bRs, I am sooo sorry. Have you talked to your hubby about any of this? I would make sure that he knows exactly how you feel.
Are you guys staying at Disney the whole week?
Your hubby will probably want to rent a car as well, correct?

My mother in law asked us a couple of weeks ago to go to Florida this Summer also. My daughter has a runway class on the check-in date and graduation on the check-out date!

Good Luck and make sure you stand strong!!

^^^ LOL! Yeah, she can be nice... but she's kinda cheap when it comes to, well, just about everything. The fact that she thought I would enjoy shopping for Winnie the Pooh T-shirts is a little annoying though. I did sort of like Disney stuff when I was in high school, but this was 10 years ago. I really don't find that stuff all that appealing.

Yeah, we're staying right outside the gates of Disney World. UGH! Of course my honey wants to rent a car too, he completely agrees that we don't need to spend every waking moment with his parents. Hehe, although he's probably not to wild about the whole going to the outlet thing, since he knows I'll probably buy a whole bunch of stuff I don't "need". But I'm sure he'll let me go though.
::sigh:: It was a nice idea that she had... the whole family vacation (that I don't have to pay for). But, still, I wasn't planning on having plan the entire trip around what they wanted to do.

Yeah, it is very nice that she is taking you guys on a vacation but she shouldn't expect to spend every waking moment together either. I am sure that she won't mind if you and your hubby drive to the outlets one day.
I know it will be hard to resist the Winnie the pooh and tigger souvenir's.

I am at 1,000 posts!!

well if she's paying for it - you will hurt her feelings by not being with her. i can understand some of that but i also understand that people need TIME ALONE. oh and my favorite part about vacations are eating out!!! mmm love it. but Orlando is...eh...i'm not a fan. the last family vacation i went on with my mom, step dad and 8 yr old brother (now 10) was to Orlando. i was bored because no one would go on the crazy rides with me (everyone was too scared, but my step dad did go on like 2 of them with me).

we did stay at a beautiful place where i got to run every morning, even went for a massage. of course we had a family argument but it basically calmed down by the end. haha. oh well.

but as for Orlando, it bored me pretty much to death. it's WAYYYY too touristy. i think we were only there for like 3 days and then went to Boca Raton to visit my granny (which was lovely).

you'll survive i'm sure!!! but yes, rent a car for your own peace of mind. really.

^^^ Yes, I'm sure I'll be bored to. Roller coasters are fun and all, but I would only want to do that for a day or two and then I'd be sick of it. I will go on quite a few roller coasters... my husband is annoying though. He likes to go on them, but then he purposely screams like a dork when we're on the ride because he thinks its funny. I probably shouldn't tell you about what he did with my stuffed monkey that I won the last time we were at an amusement park.

^^^ LOL! Well, remember mine is kinda immature like that. He just does stupid things because it thinks its funny to be annoying. You're lucky, not having to put up with that and all.
