Piperlime adds designer Handbags
It was bound to happen. I was just waiting for this news...

Piperlime, the year-old footwear e-commerce site owned by Gap Inc., just launched handbags on their site today. A well needed addition that I have been just waiting for -- because naturally, when you shop shoes, you're mostlikely going to want to find a bag to go with, right?

Now on Piperlime you can find handbags by well-loved designers such as Hayden-Harnett, Botkier, Kooba Marc by Marc Jacobs and many more. Right now they don't have a huge list of designers, (I counted 28 designers,) but it's a start.

Catherine Beaudoin, senior vice president and general manager of Piperlime.com had this to say: "When we got into shoes, we got into the market and found that something was missing. We wanted to offer something different than what was out there. We offer fashion guidance and do it in an engaging and fun way with our own distinct voice. We've heard from our customers. They asked us for handbags, so it felt like the natural next step."

That's awesome! I don't like Melie Bianco though, her stuff looks inspired to me.

They are calling Jessica Simpson's handbag line "designer"? Her bags are all plastic-y and they all look inspired too! LOL!

I do like Foley+Corinna and Hayden-Harnett bags so this might be a good site to watch for sales.

I actually had a Mellie Bianco bag a while back...like 2 years ago. the quality SUCKS but they are cheap and cute. and yes - those bags are HEAVILY "inspired".

Oh yeah, I do remember that. The funny thing was that I thought her bags were at least made out of leather. Then I saw them in person and realized they were made out of plastic.

I would say they are around the same level as Guess when it comes to handbags.
