Has anyone ever used an escrow service?
I was just reading My Poupette's website and they recommend using an escrow for purchases online over $500. Anyone here ever use it for eBay? And does anyone know of any reputable escrow services?

ive heard great things about using an escrow service - you give the escrow company your $, the person who is selling the item gives them the bag... then when everything goes through the company sends you your bag. To me it seems more safe and secure so the person doesnt bite back and say they didnt get the money or item

I've never used an escrow service. There are very few things I'd buy on eBay for over $500, and I'd only buy them from a seller with lots of positive FB. Paying with a credit card via Paypal is enough protection, IMO. Paypal is buyer-friendly, not seller-friendly. Which makes it great for a buyer, but quite a risk for a seller.

No, and it's crazy to pay a middle man. Personally, I think "My Poupette's" is a HUGE joke and so do the folks at LV. Everytime I'm in an LV store, I bring up My Poupette's and they all LAUGH! They think the person has a HUGE mental problem! : ) Actually, they DON't like her repping their products at all! They find her an insult and wish she'd stop. That's the scoop from the following LV stores: Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive; other S. Cal Malls within LA and outlying cities, Houston, Chicago, NYC, Florida, etc. I hit them all when I travel. In Florence, Italy the people there hadn't heard of My Poupette's but that's not surprising. In short, the lady must be a real nut-case per the LV Staff! : )

Sorry, I got carried away and forgot the question...hehehee....Use a credit card. They will stand behind any purchase made online or off-line as long as you keep all documentation, receipts, emails, discussions, dates, pictures, etc. An escrow service will just cost you more money.
I bought an Hermes tote on eBay once. The photo was for the real bag and the delivery was a fake. I got my money back in full using a credit card. Plus, don't go through paypal to file a dispute if the seller is not cooperative. Go directly to the CC company. They will stand behind you as long as you call them immediatley and not wait too long. Anyway, hope this helps. It's the only way I will shop online or on eBay. I'm very cautious on ebay. been burned too many times. |

I have considered using an escrow service for a couple big purse purchases from ebay. But it is no use, because if you get a fake, and escrow isnt going to know, unless it is something like My Poupette... and yes PivotStudioMom, I've heard the same thing from a couple people.

PivotStudioMom: What is it about MyPoupette that you/the LV staff thinks is a joke? I don't know much about MyPoupette, so am asking. Is her authentication service not good, or what? She says it's accepted by Paypal in case of disputes, is that not correct? Where would you go for a bona fide authentication?
