^^^ Not true! I buy stuff from Let-Trade... they are located in Hong Kong. Almost all of their stuff is used though... but 100% authentic.
Its true that a lot of stuff over there is fake... but not everyone is a crook. There are a few exceptions to the rule.

everything is basically made in China/Hong Kong. i am a designer/product developer so i'm always in China and HK. however if you are purchasing designer bags out there - just be aware that almost all of the ones they are selling are fakes. i mean we are talking about $300 fake bags... ya they look JUST like an MJ but it's still not. ya know?

i just made a rule for myself that if it's a seller from that area - i'm not gonna buy anything from them. it's risky bc there is very little way to ever get your money back (they also have different courier services out there so they can really screw with package tracking).

I bought a Coach from Coach and the tag inside says MADE IN CHINA, one said made in Turkey, another Romania!!! I JUST bought a BURBERRY check hobo shoulder bag at BURBERRY and the embossed leather tag inside states its serial number on one side and MADE IN CHINA on the other side.

I'm not saying THIS SITE is selling real bags. I looked at the site and THEY ARE FAKES. But, please KNOW that most of the design houses are sending their manufacturing to China because it's so cheap. Here's a good article online and in this month's Fortune Mag:

Burberry's new boss doesn't wear plaid - October 15, 2007

Looks like London is PO'd at BURBERRY'S new boss because she is shipping their manufacturing needs to China.

Well, I bought one of the bags. It's hot, a big WHITE CHECK authentic Burberry shoulder bag and it's real. MADE IN CHINA.

DOONEY & BOURKE also has some MADE IN CHINA labels. That's why they can undercut prices for the younger bag addicts.

Anyway, thought I'd add to this discussion because the entire Design World is out of control. Almost all the major clothing and accessory industry has stuff made in China.

PLEASE REMEMBER I HATE FAKES. I'm talkin about the real stuff here, not fakes.

Thanks for the article PivotStudioMom. I always like reading the business side of designer companies...knowing which corporation owns which brands gives me perspective when I go shopping so I don't go over my head carried away by the latest marketing campaign.

I did raise an eyebrow with the knight theme getting into the Burberry trademark plaid though. I once owned a Burberry trenchcoat and back in those days, there wasn't a knight in sight. Don't get me wrong, I like the knight, I think it adds a nice classic touch to it and its what made me look at Burberry bags for the first time. Still, it seems a bit ironic when I talked to the girl on the salesfloor who insisted with all the authority of what, 3 months on the job? that the knight had always been on all Burberry plaids.

These days its kind of sad seeing once trendy DKNY and MK flooding TJ Maax right along with my least favorites XOXO, Baby Phat, Kathy Van Zeeland. Liz Claiborne is actually getting more creative and maybe one day Stone Mountain will become the next "it" bag? naah.

whoops, sorry for being so off topic, got carried away...
