Are they claiming they are the real thing, or are they saying they are "designer inspired" or something like that?
If they are claiming they are the real thing, then yes the owner should be reported, as what he or she is doing is illegal. And its people like that who drive the already high prices up even further on these designer bags putting them even further out of reach of hardworking people like you and me. Now, if they are saying they aren't real, and if they aren't perfect replicas, most designer inspired bags only slightly resemble the actual bags and could be spotted as such from a mile away, then the owner could be in the clear. What do the rest of you think? Am I right? ![]() |

I don't think you should worry about getting in trouble with the law. I think you should just report them. I would have already!
Is it a type of thrift store? They can't get in trouble for having fakes. Or a store claiming that they are designer "inspired" But if its a bag with the chanel logo on it, says chanel, then the store could get in trouble for it. I would say report it. |

He knows I know that they're fake, cuz he told me. And he also knows I have a problem with it, but I think he's scared that if he fires me, then I'll snitch. I mean, I wouldn't do that out of spite, but it's not like he deserves to not be scared. And yeah, I don't want to snitch on my boss, it seems weird and wrong, but so is what he's doing.
My manager told me that he told her to tell people that they're the real thing..... I just wanted to make sure I couldn't be sued by Coach, Ed Hardy, or one of the numerous knockoff brands that he sells. I finally got a job in this economy..... and now I wish I didn't. |

Does this store just sell fake merchandice, or is it another type of store? What type of store is this, what does it sell?
You, personally can't be sued by coach, ed hardy, etc. (I don't think) but I'm pretty sure the store can be, or be shut down. Personally, I would have a huge problem with this and refuse to work there. |

All I know is that if anyone reports this guy they will shut down his store and he will pay a fine. Maybe even serve time in jail for couterfits. If I were u I would just go with the flow but don't lie to people and say that they're real bc if it's a undercover cop you're going down with him!

You as an employee could not be sued by anyone. Any lawsuit or legal action would fall upon the store's owner. If it were me, I wouldn't want to work at a store that sells fakes... period. I would quit and go report him to the police. If you're worried about him knowing that you were the snitch, you could always give the police an anonymous tip. After all, it could have been anyone that did the reporting.

I would do that, but he knows I have a problem with him selling handbags and I reassured him I wouldn't report him. He has three young daughters and a wife who is 8 months pregnant and in the hospital because she's having complications with the pregnancy. I would report him if he didn't have so many people counting on him.
However, all it takes is one of the employees at the mall a few miles away where they sell designer handbags and clothes to come to his store and see that he's selling knockoffs then report him. He told my manager the other day that if anyone asks if the purses are real, then to tell them "Yes, they're authentic designer handbags"....... it makes me sick. This part made me want to slap him, he goes "The real bags are a couple thousand dollars, but for what?" so I said, "Made in Italy, great quality..." and he cuts me off and says "Yeah, but for what?"........ He's scared of me though, he thinks I'll report him. I wouldn't report him out of spite, but he doesn't need to know that. =) |
