Hey girls I have an issue I was hoping to get help with. I bought a YSL muse and paid $1600 for it. When I bought it I had no worries about the price but then my husband mentioned to me that the bag costs as much as our mortgage. So here's my thing....should I feel bad/guilty for spending the money with this economy or just enjoy the bag? Is it too much for a handbag? How much is too much? Most cost around $1000. Let me know your opinions!

It is just my opinion, but if you spent as much on a bag as your mortgage, then it is too much.
Did you discuss with your husband before buying the bag? If yes, and your husband was on board with you spending it, don't feel guilty and enjoy it.
But if you went ahead and bought the bag without discussing it first, i don't think it would be right. It also depends if you have other commitments like student loans, car payments or children to care for, then the bag is too expensive at the present time. You can always buy a gorgeous bag later when the $1600 really is not as big a deal as it is at this time.
Good Luck and sorry if i made you feel bad!

If you had the extra money for it and you treat yourself once in a while, they I say it's not too much. Plus the Muse is such a classic bag that you will have for years and years and it will always be in style.

I agree with the opinions that the cost is relative to your income. For example, I cannot afford bags/shoes that are more than 200-300 dollars unless I save up for them. I've charged up so many credit cards but I've worked VERY HARD to pay them off. My student loans don't help either but I still manage to have nice things. I discourage any of my friends who want to live the 'living on credit' lifestyle as I've been there.
But don't be too hard on yourself for wanting nice things. As long as you're able to pay all your bills and have a little extra left over, who cares if you bought something nice. I'm sure your husband wouldn't mind paying $1600 for something he really likes (a watch, speakers, new wheels for his car, etc).
To make him feel better, tell him the next time you guys get some extra money, he can splurge on something he's been wanting for a long time.

thanks for the advice but we really can't afford what he's been wanting so that won't work. LOL I think he's already over it. I get it tomorrow so I'll post pics
