I have not heard about this, or seen anything like that. Very interesting!

Oh my gosh I saw YSL Parfume at PATHMARK, I can't tell if they are trying to spread their name around to different groups ( not like they needed to) or if they are not doing well. I also saw the Chanel makeup pallete at costco for $45 retailing at $85.

I saw THIS .... YSL PARFUM baby doll set
I think this undermines the perfume. I know its just a sample set, but really I don't like the idea of people saying "I bought mine on clearance at pathmark..." I called Ysl and they are like " i currently cann't tell you about our sales to pathmark" blah blah blah. I feel like it cheapens it a little bit, you know? whos with me on this?

i mean, as long as they aren't knockoffs, i don't see anything wrong with it. what else would they do with it? toss it? give it away for free? they need to move last season's product out. the customers who would rather die than wear last season's style don't want it, sell it to pathmark and let those who are more about the deal than the designer swoop them up

like i said, as long as they aren't knockoffs.

^^ okay person above me does not get what I said. Excuse you!
I should have just put this in a seperate post...

To clear up any misconceptions to other users.
Iam not the customer who would rather die than wear last seasons style...I buy brands like YSL and chanel because sometimes I want things that other people don't have and its called EXCLUSIVE. A store like pathmark totally defeats the purpose. You girls know when you shell out a lot of money for makeup or anything and then later you see it... discounted at some other store, ..I don't know about you but that drives me bonkers.

I really think you don't understand what is wrong with what you said. " the deal than the designer swoop them up" Designers do not need people to "swoop up their products". Apparently you don't worship designer products, but I do. It is not something that any joe shmoe can buy and be like oh good its $30. Do you really think that anybody would work so hard creating a luxury empire to later find the creations in some sad corner of COSTCO.. no..
Sorry that is so not okay with me.

You asked what else would they do with them. The luxury companies are so rich they do not worry about with to do with the products that are not sold. they are really not profitting from this. The people who buy them are many times like me. Any discount occurances are a sign of the times..

Sisa - It probably cheapens the brands to some extent, but it is each company's choice to make whether or not they will sell last season's overstock to stores like those mentioned. In this economy, it seems like more and more designers are making their way to the discount stores. I agree with you that it's annoying to buy something at full price, only to find it discounted somewhere else. Perhaps you should try shopping around a little more. You shouldn't put others down though for having an opinion. If you like the idea of having something exclusive, all the more power to you. But there was no reason to be rude. We welcome all opinions here.

Your right, I don't need to be so mean. I am so silly I totally forgot about the economy and everything. I just feel so strongly about luxury brands, I think they should be worshiped... is that wrong?.. I know I can be so vicious, I just get carried away.. I thought I was being portrayed as a snob, which Iam not. I know I overreacted. I'm sorry miss Ampersans.
