i'm usually a 7.5. though sometimes those can even run a bit big in the back. but if that happens, then the 7 usually ends up being too small. so i always go with the 7.5. oh, and my left foot is bigger than my right foot (not visibly noticeable). so shoes typically feel tigher on my left foot.
and you know what i HATE? i get so annoyed when i find a shoe i love and they don't make half sizes. that drives me nuts. they should just make half sizes!!! i mean, when they do that the 7 is always too small and the 8 is always too big
another thing that irritates me is when sandals (flip flops particularly) have a ton of extra room in the front because they are really rounded. i always look for ones that are more narrow and take more shape to the foot. not that i have narrow feet or anything. i just don't like all of that extra room.
I feel your pain. I'm a 7.5 in the winter and a 7.5/8 in the summer. I hate it. Plus my feet are super sensitive so I tend to spend a lot of money for comfort.

I worked part time at Dillard's while I was in college and I worked in the Shoe Department. If you go to the department stores, they have these things you can put in the front of the shoe that will push your foot back, so if the shoe is slightly large, it makes it fit. They also have these soft things that you stick in the heel that keeps it from rubbing a blister on your feet. If you ask, the associate will (should) give you some. I always threw a handful in when someone bought shoes from me and used them.
Unfortunately, these do not work with open toe or open back shoes. But if you see a great pair of pumps you can't live without, you can make it work.
I also hate when a shoe doesn't have half sizes!! I usually wear an 8 to 9. I wear an 8 1/2 in tennis shoes, depending on the brand. My size is a common size, so sometimes the shoes are out of stock.

for me it is really dependent on the designers cut. Typically I'm a 6 1/2, but I tend to find in many designers, especially when it comes to heels, I wear a 6. Thats why I'm always iffy to order shoes online, I know I can always send them back, but I get discouraged if they wont fit right away, and have to risk or returning them and not being able to get them in the right size. I'm in that position right now, Im having a shoe frenzy crisis! haha.

My shoe size ranges from a 7 1/2 - 8 1/2. In some dress shoes I wear 7 1/2 - 8 and in athletic shoes I have to get a 8 1/2. It is so strange. So I have to try on every shoe I buy.

Trust me you all are lucky!!! My shoes size is a 5.5.... its SOOO hard to find my size. Every store only has like 1 5.5 shoe.. and I only wear heels.. so its even harder! And it's so hard to find a shoe that actually fits... and when there are shoe sales I can never find anything. BUT.. I did score like 2 weeks ago. MK was having a 75% off shoe sale.. I got 3 pairs of heels.. 5.5... 90 bucks! Each were regular 129.. so I do score sometimes but not too often!
