Pamela Anderson has apologised for wearing dead sheep on her feet.

The former Baywatch star, 39, says she has thrown away her favourite Ugg boots, because she didn't know they were made from shaved sheep skin.

'I'm getting rid of my Uggs,' she says on her personal website. 'I feel so guilty for that craze being started around my Baywatch days. I used to wear them with my red swimsuit to keep warm, never realising that they were SKIN! I thought they were shaved kindly.'

The mother-of-two, who is a staunch animal rights activist and member of PETA, is wracked with guilt over the fact that women the world over followed in her footsteps by wearing the animal pelt boots.

She added: 'People like to tell me all the time that I started that trend - yikes!'

Pam is disgusted she has worn her boots for so long, writing: 'It's what I grab by my door in the mornings to bring my kids to school or walk my dog on the beach at 6am or anything early. I've definitely over used them - and that's it!!!!'

Yes, sheep grow skin out of their skin, and it can be shaved off humanely then it just comes back the next year! I'm surprised PETA let her get away with that, I'm pretty sure they beat up regular people just for wearing wool sweaters all the time.

LOL! But how could she not tell that there was skin ATTACHED to that wool? I mean something that is made of sheepskin is obviously going to be different than something that's just made of wool.

But, yes, I agree... PETA is psycho so I'm surprised she was let off the hook so easily.

I hate Uggs too, I think they're ridiculous; particularly the little girls I used to see on the ol' college campus wearing mini skirts and Uggs when it was 90F outside. I never figured that out, it's not like Uggs enhanced the way their legs looked or anything. On the contrary, Uggs = instant cankles.

Actually... sheepskin is surprisingly cool in the summer time, that's why people wear them even when its hot outside.
I still see some girls wearing them around here... but they have been tucking their jeans inside of them. And then they put on a long sleeved shirt with a puffy vest over it and they think they're set!

The vests are "okay"... but I hate the boots!!

I think she tries to do to much for Peta. I support Peta in the
best ways I can. But she tries to be to perfect and it makes her IQ drop.

Peta is psycho... its all about politics for them!

I agree with them on several points but they go about proving things in very extreme ways that just make people think they are crazy. Hehe... and people like Pamela who get sucked in by them and their craziness probably do go a little bit off the deep end trying to live up to their IMPOSSIBLE standards. Just my two cents... don't mean to offend anyone. I love animals!!! Hehe!

I have UGGS... and I love them to death. My friend is a Peta follower and she is trying to make me give up all my stuff and I can't and I'm sorry!!! I don't think I could ever give up my designer purses, and my steve madden shoes. It's way too hard....
