Default Live.com and the proliferation of RM bags priced over retail: Your thoughts?

    Hello chicas!

With live.com's current cashback programs, you can score some pretty good deals on merchandise from Ebay. The cashback has gone from anywhere between 8% and today it topped out at a generous 30%. As a result of the cashback incentives, sellers are benefiting from quicker sales and buyers of course are benefiting from the discount.

However, this situation, warrants a second look when you see items begin popping up on Ebay that are priced incredibly high over retail. For example, today there was a surge in RM listings that were priced over retail with the introduction of the 30% live.com discount today. The live.com does not negatively affect sellers in any way; if anything it helps them sell their item. Knowing that buyers would be more apt to buy with a cashback option, some sellers increased the price of their items by hundreds of dollars more than they were previously listed for. Interestingly, this phenomenon seems to be occurring much more so on RM bags than any other brands. Matinees listed at $700, Nikkis listed at $800, MAMs listed at a cool $600. Anyhow, I'm just making an observation here and would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this!

i totally disagree with inflating prices because of the live.com promo, but that being said, i bought one of the "rare" colored Matinees myself because if i didn't do it, somebody else was going to beat me to it. it sucks, but what are you gonna do, you know? i don't know. the particular bag i bought would have gone for over retail with or without the promo, but the thing that irked me the most was that the seller of the bag had gotten it for a real steal and was making BEAUCOUP bucks on this. like over a $200 profit.

Ahhh, I see! I refer to that as the "Hayden Color" LOL.

Congratulations on being able to snag it. It definitely is a very pretty color; its hard to explain, but its elegantly muted in tone; a very soft and pretty blue and at the same time its really versatile. I remember a long time ago, I very much wanted a MAM in that color =)

I'm still perplexed with the whole cashback thing. I can't find Ebay through the site and don't want to buy something and then not get the 30% off.

And yes, I think it sucks they raise prices but it is always what the market can bear....

Who pays the percentage? Live.com or the seller?

Oh I will help you! Go to live.com. Type in guitar hero (thats what I always do =P) Then there should be a gray advertisement box towards the top of the screen with anywhere from 1-3 links. One of the links should say something like Guitar Hero - Get 30% if paypal eligible. Click on that link. That link should take you to Ebay. Then there should be a little green Live cashback banner towards the top of the Ebay screen. When you see that banner, go ahead and search for anything you want to buy. The item must be BIN and the seller must take paypal as payment. When you click BIN, the amount of cashback you would get should show up. Lemme know if that helps! =)

Is the live.com cashback only applicable to the US? Cause I followed what you said and can't find the Guitar Hero - Get 30% .. link. All the ads are only applicable to my country.

Okay, and obviously I have to sign up for this program first?

Have anyone actually received a check back from this program yet?

Gungy: After getting a couple of really good deals on ebay, I have been turned off by unreasonably high prices for RM bags for a while now. I don't know if it started with Live.com or if it's because a lot of girls keep buying the same bags in every color compulsively from online stores, receive the bags, decide they like the Iris more than the Navy Luxe, or the Deep Purple more than the Concord, or the Cloud Grey more or less than the Sage...and put the bags on ebay at retail prices--or more, if they think they got a "rare" bag. It's a joke at this point.

it's best to sign up for it first... it's pretty easy though.

i have like $800 of cashback sitting in my account waiting for the 60-day period to end, so it does work... it's not a scam.

and regarding the prices, they are getting ridiculous. but i bought one of them myself that actually is a pretty hard-to-find color, so i guess i can't be hypocritical. i just think sellers are ripping people off, fees or no fees.
