Default While cleaning my new Nikki, a bit of color came off! Can this happen when I wear it?

Hi, I just got my first RM--a brand new, peacock Nikki in the mail Unfortunately, before I could even wear her, my cat dropped a bit of his Friskies "pate" on it!!! Long story... I don't know how he did it, but I walked by the chair where Miss Nikki was sitting, and there it was Anyway, I wiped it off and used some Apple Care leather cleaner to lift the spot. Unfortunately, I had never used this product before and didn't know that it could pull some of the color from my bag! I"m trying not to panic b/c all of you Minkettes trust Apple Care, but I'm a bit freaked. Hopefully it will be fine when it dries, but it has me wondering... do I need to worry about color transfer w/ RM bags? I sure hope not! I plan on weather proofing her when the spot dries, so maybe this will prevent the dye from bleeding, but I'd hate my new Nikki to be the first bag that I have to worry about this with!

Hm, the color shouldn't rub off when you treat it...it might look like that on the towel, but I'm sure it will dry fine. Make sure to use APPLE RAIN AND STAIN REPELLENT on it.

Hopefully Zombiegirl sees this thread and helps you out. She knows more about that stuff than I do, lol.

I don't think you should worry about color transfer. I have a mini Nikki in wine, and while I've never treated it with anything, I've worn it a million times, and the color has never rubbed off on anything.

I would definintely weather proof the bag as my Cranberry MAM did bleed on one
of my white T shirts not too long ago. It's no big deal as it came out in the wash,
    but just a bit annoying.

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all of your input so far I was wondering though...the cleaner spots are still very visible on my bag Do any of you know about how long it usually takes them to fade? I'm kind of stressing b/c it's been like 4 hours and I'm not so sure they are gonna actually lighten back up to match the rest Has anyone else had a problem like this before? I'm thinking I might have to rub the cleaner on the whole thing to make the color consistent on the whole bag, but I'd rather not do this since it will make the color a lot darker. Does anyone have any ideas?

    I am so sorry.
I have never used Apple Leather Cleaner as it is too strong of a cleaner. I use Wet Ones alcohol free wipes to clean my bags.
I would let it dry overnight and see how it looks in the morning. If it is the same maybe you could try the Apple Leather Conditioner to buff out the color difference. See how that does before you do anything else. I wouldn't recommend using the Leather Cleaner all over the bag since it removed color.

After you get everything sorted out I would use the Apple Rain & Stain Repellent ASAP to protect your bag from nasty stains and rain.

OMG, I'm sorry for leaving you ladies hanging! I totally forgot to post that my Nikki is looking a lot healthier today--I actually just took her out of her dustbag after deciding that I couldn't stare at those spots any longer, ha ha! Yesterday I had the afternoon off of work, so I spent some serious time trying to do damage control--first I rubbed the whole thing w/ a soft cloth, then tried a hairdryer on the cool setting, and then conditioned and buffed the whole bag. After a lot of rubbing and letting her rest in her bag for a full day, I can barely see the spots--well I can see them b/c I know they're there, but I showed my mom and she said she couldn't. Anyway, I'm really happy that Ms. Nikki--and I--are feeling in better spirits, but now I wonder if I should wait to rain & stain her...does anyone have any suggestions?

Once she is completely dry I would use the Apple Rain & Stain immediately!
Happy to hear the good news - I was worried when we didn't hear back from you.

Oh this has happened to me a lot of times, particularly with blue and green RM bags. I wouldnt worry about it too much. Sure your cleaning cloth will pick up some color but in my experience, it really hasnt been enough ever to warrant a problem. AG is some strong stuff..but then again, Ive had that experience with Coach cleaners too. Anyhow, I usually use the actual cleaner here and there (maybe once every couple months) but the conditioner I will use all the time. Its less strong and performs a gentler cleaning between the times I use the actual cleaner
