Default Advice on a bag: Restore it or let it go?

Hi all! So this bag recently came into my possession through a trade. It's def not close to being new and has the following things that need to be addressed:

The outside has some signs of wear, including scuffed corners (all 4), handles where the weave has been smoothed by regular use, tassels which could use a light cleaning with leather cleaner, and there are some light surface scratches on the hardware as we;; as tarnish. The handles on the bag are floppy from use and slightly gummy to the touch. Rebecca Minkoff will repair the handles for free though.

HOWEVER, the lovely Barbara at lovinmybags.com said that for $175 she can get this bag looking spiffy as heck and damn near brand new (not in those exact words). I *think* it might be worth it. This bag color combo is hard to find and I really like the contrast.

So what should I do? Sell it for pocket change or make the investment to restore it?

Do you adore it? Is it something that you'll have forever? Did you already spend a pretty penny on it (and I know it's a trade, but was the trade a big one?)

If you love it, restore it. It's definitely worth the money if it's a bag you use & can't live without.

I would restore it, especially if this colour combo is hard to find.

If you are in love with it I would restore it. If not, then I would let it go.

If you love the bag Gung and the price u got it for was good, then by all means restore it. I've sent my bags for treatment before (not LMB though) and it came back as good as new. Well worth it for me

If you didn't spend much on it already and love this bag and want to use it, then I say restore it. If you do restore it and then decide to sell it, would you be able to recoup the cost of restoring it?

I don't even think it looks that bad now! But if you love it (which, it sounds like you do!) then I would restore it!!! It's really nice and the color combo is great!

I would probably use the bag for a bit to see if I really love and want to keep it. If so, then I would spend the extra $ to restore it.

Like everyone else said, if you love it, then restore it. Or, if you got it for a steal originally, then restoring it might be worth it. The return on investment might be good, especially if you sell it one day, since it's a hard to find bag!

I think restoring it may be a great idea... Especially 175 for everything..
If my memory serves me right. RM now charges 35 to restore handles..
I really like the color combo..

Man this sucks! Someone bought the bag and then emailed me and said they bid by mistake. =/
I guess I have the bag now. I think Im going to go for it and send it to LMB. They have done some amazing work.
