Default The Rebecca Minkoff Brand - A lot of love and a long rant

Rebecca Minkoff has long been my favorite brand. Way back, when this brand was small and largely unheard of, I loved these bags with a fervor that I never before had towards handbags. Bags like the MAM and the Matinee were bags that had all the details like lush leather, minimal hardware, and gorgeous styling that I had always wanted but had never before seen collectively on one bag. Over the past few years, I have been through literally dozens of RM products; I have made hard decisions choosing between colors, hardware, leather textures and more.

While my bag repertoire has changed, one thing remained a constant: the quality nearly always remained superb. Admittedly, I had one instance where handles were an issue and that was taken care of right away for me. Other than that, QC has been flawless.

Now here is the ultimate point of my thread: There are legions of women rising up in mass hysteria, freaking out about minute differences in leather, shape, and structure and shaking their fists at RM in a collective outcry against the brand. WHY!?
No, this does not happen here on this forum and for that I am glad. However, it does happen on other forums.

There are women getting all worked up over a 1/12 of an inch difference in size of leather panels, of variations in leather and so much more. HELLO! Leather bags are made from cows! If you want a perfectly smooth, non variant leather, then go buy yourself some processed and manufactured PLEATHER! Better yet, you might want to have a conversation with that cow and ask it to provide you with perfect and non variant leather. If you are going complain about a 1/12 inch of difference in panel size, maybe you ought to just give it all up now, because I call that one thing and one thing only: Anal.

Anyhoo, thats my rant. I love RM. I've pretty much have never had any problems with quality from these bags with the exception of one time which was taken care of ASAP. I absolutely abhor it when I see those who subscribe to mob mentality tactics jump to point fingers without even thinking first, and in the process badmouthing an up and coming brand that is trying very hard to succeed. After having experienced myself the same kind of mob mentality treatment on other forums, I shake my head at these people and wonder, what ever happened to thinking for yourself? Why the collective hysteria/mass freakout? Why is it when one girl says something, all the other girls follow, without checking their facts and getting them right? Who knows. I sure dont. What I do know at least, is that my RM bags kick ass.

    End of rant.
Shoutout to RM: Thanks for making the best bags ever!

Edit to add: Here is my Black Basketweave bag that is made of luscious, highly distressed leather that varies all over the place and I love it to pieces! the front is nearly completely smooth, the sides are very pebbly and the back is distressed and its gorgeous. Defect? Hell no! This is top notch, buttery soft leather and I'm loving it!

I don't own any RM's, but from seeing them in store and hearing reviews on here, I can't wait to get one!

I think those kinds of rants happen with all brands - and I agree, it's completely silly.
I don't understand it either. I've seen complaints about the smallest nicks, color variations, ONE slightly loose thread, a spec of lint arriving on the bag, etc.

I try to ignore those types of comments and stay true to my love of the brand. Remember, there are fans, and fanatics - who IMO are a bit

Wow! People can be crazy! I just sold a RM on ebay, and the woman wanted me to send up close pictures of the seams where the 2 sides of the leather come together to make sure the leather was the same all the way around, no irregularities. So, I did this for her, and thank God there were none, so she bought it. But I also sent her a picture of my Mahina. On the side where the seams come together, there is a HUGE difference! So, if a LV that costs $3000.00 has uneven leather, in my opinion, there is no escaping it. That is just the way leather is!

I totally agree with you GUNG, I can't stand when people are TOO picky about their bags like you said in your post!

I only own two RM but they were just as perfect as they could be and I know if I had bough them from her directly and there was a problem with one of my bags, RM would step in and fix them, for that I applaud her, go RM!

I'm thinking every handbag has some sort of flaw to it, even the 15k Hermes bags. I like the happy medium forum members here who aren't freaking out over every little scratch, scrape and loose thread or praising the brand so much, people that question one little thing are being barked at. I have to say that I did have a handle seal issue, but I sent it to RM who repaired it quickly and for free. That being said, at least the brand is working to rectify any problems that do occur.

^I agree with you 1000%. I love the even keel nature of this forum and all of its subforums. Here, there is no drama, no barking, no chastising, no Nazi-ism...its about fun and lively discussion. I am only sad I did not find this place sooner but eh, you live you learn!
