Just got home. So tired. Nope I've never worked retail before, so it's definitely different. Of course, here in NYC, there are so many snooty rich girls, so I had a few of those today. It wasn't THAT bad. I had to ask a lot of questions and needed help, but it was my first day so what do they expect. There was another new girl there and we have the same schedule during the week, and overlap time on the weekend, so that's good. It's always nice to have someone else new there.

Haha! I was talking to a fellow student earlier this week and he was asking me about my job. Somehow we got into bad customers. He said he had never worked retail before and seemed shocked when I told him people will yell at you, call you names, and, yes, even throw things at you. Of course, you're just supposed to smile and kill them with kindness. You can do everything right and there are still people who throw fits.

    >>> Right now I have just gotten home. My presentation this morning wasn't all that great. I had absolutely no time to rehearse it, so I was fumbling around a lot. My presentation this evening wasn't all that great either. The syllabus had said 15-20 minutes. We had a sub today though and he was cutting everyone off at 15 minutes. Of course he didn't alert me on my time until I only had 2 minutes left! I still had a ton of slides to go through at that point. Agh!

Just watching Millionaire Matchmaker. I'll be in bed soon. Ugh, I freaked myself out by talking to my mom on the phone. Her dad died when I was like 7, and he had Huntington's Disease. Now I don't know if that's what he died from, but he had it, which means my mom has a 50% chance of having it. She never wanted to know if she had it, but then said on the phone that she thinks she has it and she should get tested. So if she has it, I have a 50% chance of having it. After you show signs of the disease you have 15-20 years to live. Most people don't start showing signs until they're 40+. It's just freaking me out because I could have it, and if my mom finds out she does, then I will inevitably have to get tested. I usually don't even think about it, but of course my mom got all upset on the phone tonight, and we talked a lot about it, so I've been thinking about it. It's semi-rare to know someone who has it, and I don't know anyone else with it. I think a lot of times it goes undiagnosed because people don't want to get tested.

Lils, i know it is easier said than done, but stop worrying about things you can't control.
Once diagonised with the disease at 40+, you say people can live for another 15-20 years!!!heck that is good!!!
Who knows if we are going to be crossing the road tomorrow and get hit by a car (god forbid). What i am trying to say is that stress takes more of a toll than any disease.
Get yourself tested if you feel knowing will be a lot less stressful than not knowing and wondering about it.
Do have faith that you have a great life ahead with your loved one

Thanks FU! I totally agree, something could happen to me long before then. I'm definitely one of those people who gets anxiety about the things I can't control (hence why I hate flying).

Aw I'm sorry lils. I remember talking about this in class since it is a huge subject in genetics. People don't die of the disease though, they typically die of complications since it involves loss of muscle control and whatnot. Even though there is no cure, there is talk of treatments that help alleviate the symptoms. I don't know anyone that has it, but I remember thinking in class how awful it would be knowing there is a possibility but not knowing for sure. What's sad is that people don't find out they have it until after they have already had children. Sorry, I'm probably not helping very much. I hope you find out that your mom doesn't have it, both for her and for you as well! You'll have to let us know when you find out!

^^^ My allergies have been bothering me, which is weird. Maybe it is all the dry leaves on the ground.

Right now I'm getting ready to eat something for lunch. I still have stuff to do for finals week (next week), but I can feel that procrastination setting in. I think I am just pooped, from my stuff and Mr BRS's stuff. It's just too much stuff!
