Super pissed right now. Something is wrong with my netbook. Mr BRS thinks its a trojan virus. The web browser won't let me go to any websites that let you download anti-virus software, plus it crashes constantly and I can't search for anything on Google. I took it down to the computer help desk at school and they told me it would be 2 weeks before they could work on it. They told me just to download the software on a different computer and transfer the file using a flash drive. That's what we did, but they computer refuses to run the software now that we have it installed. Now what? I need my netbook for class. Of all the bad luck, first the internet was out and now this. I have to use Mr BRS's computer whenever he's not using it.

Aw, I'm sorry, bRs!! It sounds like a virus. I don't think you can transfer actual programs from computer to computer though...not a 100% positive!

The same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was finally able to get a web page through IE and download an antivirus software and that took care of the problem. It found like 6 different problems plus a Trojan. I was freaking out!!
    Good Luck bRs!

Thanks Z and Jess! You can save program installation files to a flash drive on one computer and then load it onto another computer, it's just that whatever is on my computer won't let us run the actual program after the initial installation. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be working (we even tried safe mode). Mr BRS thinks I should take it back to school and just be without it for 2 weeks. He also thinks I'm really stupid for not having certain programs on my computer. I never had a problem at my old school, so it just didn't occur to me. Apparently the network at my new school is just crawling with nasty stuff.

Have you taken in to Geek Squad in Best Buy? They probably wouldn't have it for 2 weeks...

Jess - No we haven't. Doesn't that cost money though to have them look at it?

Wow that really sucks BRS!! I'm pretty sure the Geek Squad is expensive (just googled it: If they come to your home to remove the viruses it will cost you $300. In store, $200).

To look at it, it's free. But, to remove it...it will cost.

I work at Best Buy so if you want I can kind of get an estimate for you on Friday. I don't know how much they charge, lol.

    Sorry to hear that BrS.

I made the same mistake once. I used a disk (at that time, disks were still used ) and worked on my school lab computer on an assignment. Once i got back home i popped the disk into my PC, and next second, like a movie, i saw my entire hard drive being wiped out by the Empire Monkey B virus. Files just started vanishing in lighting speed! I pressed every key to get it to stop, including shutting of the main power source...no luck. My entire hard disk had to be redone

I hope yours is some silly little thing.
I agree with Mr.BrS, better to give it to the school help desk, before it gets more messed up...

Yeah, my parents spent like $200 just to get some stupid pictures off of their computer that got wiped out by a virus. The thing is, the computer (my netbook) only cost me $350 so I might as well buy another one if it's going to cost that much. There aren't any important files on there anyway.

It's okay Jess, I took it to the computer help center at school. They said it would be $45 and if it was going to cost more then they would ask me first. Like I said above, if it costs too much then there really would be no point.

Eek! That sucks! I don't think this is one of those kinds of viruses. I think it's the kind that people use to try to steal information off your computer.
