Ever wish there was a purse to match those cute little cork wedges? Well, there is now. Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela, who had formerly worked for designer Jean Paul Galutier years ago, has created a few innovative pieces for the upcoming seasons, including this cork clutch.
You might be asking yourself how material such as cork could be transformed into purse-wear, as I asked myself the same question upon spotting this slim, envelopish clutch. The Cork Clutch by Margiela is actually made of smooth cork-coated leather. The leather provides durability, as this was another thought I had about how it’s held together. The clutch features a flap top with a snap button closure and the inside is lined with soft leather that slightly gleams. There is also an interior zippered pocket for any small items that you may carry. The dimensions are 11.75"x 6.75"x 0.75", providing just enough space to fit your key items.
There is something about this new piece by Margiela that has my interest. I am personally more of a pouchette or wristlet person when I only need to carry minimal items for a quick stop somewhere or a night out dining. But besides it’s unique cork feature, this clutch also presents a certain elegance and simplicity that is appealing. Although I have a feeling I won’t be catching many carrying the purse this spring and summer (well, in my town anyway), the cork-like characteristics to its slim shape, but spacious interior for what it is, has earned itself a spot on my wish list.
Margiela always surprises me with his twists on classics. I don't love it or hate it but it definitely peaks some interest. I'd be tempted to attach photos or notes to it with thumbtacks. Its like a little portable cork message board.

Actually, I would totally wear it (but not buy it). It looks really clean and simple for summer. I'd pair it with a great pair of cork heels, like this Louboutin:
or these Kors:
Now, if only I could learn the secret to keep an all white outfit clean.
Oh those would go perfectly with the clutch!!! they pretty much have the same cork color. And I agree with you - even though i like it, i wouldn't actually buy it and spend that much on it. All of these are so perfect for the s/s!!!
