R&Y Augousti Designer Purses – created by partners in business and life, Ria and Yiouri Augousti are the French duo famous for their furniture designs, purses, totes and clutches that are created from exotic materials such as snake, eel skin, ostrich leather. The R&Y Augousti label began with only a home accessories line, back in the early 1990’s, and has grown into a lifestyle brand, expanding to handbag production four years ago in 2003.
While doing my daily browsing, a couple of R&Y Augousti bags that caught my eye were the Eel Skin Clutch and Ostrich Leg with Shagreen Buckle Wallet in vibrant purple. My favorite color if you didn’t know.
> Eel Skin Clutch, R&Y Augousti, $225, at Barneys New York – Even though I own a few eel skin bags and love them to death, many of my purse enthusiast friends do not share my love for the texture. It’s a thin silky smooth texture with long lasting durability. Eel skin has been proven to be 1.5 times more durable than leather of the same thickness.
> Ostrich Leg with Shagreen Buckle Wallet, R&Y Augousti, $204, at Barneys New York – Definitely my favorite of the two. This bag is dressed in a purple textured ostrich leg and topped off with a Shagreen Buckle. Shargreen is a type of roughened untanned leather, commonly made of the skins of sharks and rays.
