Mettle Simi's Brass Bombshell Bag

I will admit that when I first laid eyes on the Mettle Simi's Brass Bag, I thought to myself "what the heck is this thing". Seriously though, what the heck is it? A quick glance probably makes you think a bowl or a vase or an upside down helmet of some sort.....
Indeed, this is a very unusual piece. However, I'm not quite ready to cast it aside. The reason is because I read the designer bio and found something rather intriguing. Designer Brianna Hallihan was apparently inspired by her experience volunteering at a women's co-op in Cambodia. Mettle is actually produced in Cambodia as part of a non-profit skills training project. The collection is entirely handmade and free trade. And that hammered brass you're looking at? That is actually recycled bombshells! This piece is weird, yes. But the story behind it is incredible!
Retails for $258

Recycled bombshells? Wow that is pretty neat!
Honestly though, if this was a vase I would probably get it. But as a bag? Not really me.

Well, that's what I thought it was at first. LOL!
EDIT: Why was the name changed to say wood on BB?

Re: Mettle Simi's Brass Bombshell Bag
Isn't it also made of wood? I'm not completely sure since it didn't have much of a description on the website, but it looks like the body of the clutch is made of wood with the recycled bombshell brass on the outside. I really have no idea though...isn't that what it looks like?

I'm not sure what the inside is made of. LOL! That's why I asked.

Re: Mettle Simi's Brass Bombshell Bag
That is really neat!! But will the bag remain open on top? no cover?
Always be kind to people on your way up, because you are sure to meet them on your way down

Re: Mettle Simi's Brass Bombshell Bag
Yeah, it's open on top. You can't close it in any way.
I love the idea behind this, but I wish they would have made it more practical. KWIM?

Re: Mettle Simi's Brass Bombshell Bag
Yea really. Because of the opening it definitely seems like a summer season only bag.
Here's a link to the official website if any of you are curious. It looks like they make mostly bracelets and belts. Didn't see any other bags.
