    Default Carry-on bag suggestions

    Hello ladies,
I have a question which perhaps you with your vast bag knowledge may be able to help me with. I am looking for the perfect business carry on. I travel a lot and so I try not to check a bag. This means that I have my small "roll-aboard" suitcase with me. Generally this means you can only take one other bag. This other bag has to carry:

    1) My laptop for work, plus power cord
    2) A book or two
    3) Papers, magazines
    4) Bottle of water
    5) Emergency snacks, i.e. apple, power bars, etc.
    6) Anything else I might want to drag on with me, not necessarily flat - a pair of shoes, etc. (SO nice to have your comfy shoes easily accessible if you're stuck in the airport and want to change out of heels, for example.)

The laptop needs to be easily accessible for security. I need an exterior pocket to put that bag you have to have for the 3oz liquids so I can easily pull that out. Also another exterior pocket for phone, wallet, etc. It does need to have a structured bit, for laptop, i.e. places for papers, small snacks, keys, etc., but also a more open area for larger items -- souvenirs, etc. Traditional laptop bags tend to be too small for "other stuff." Traditional carry on bags tend to be too unstructured and get disorganized really quickly plus not have a place for the laptop.

Also, it needs to be cute, yet businesslike. Not too heavy. If it has a back sleeve to slide over the roll-aboard bag, even better. It has to fit under the seat in front of me. And when I get to the client's site, it has to go to work with me.

I'm stumped, I confess. Have been searching for a couple of months now with no luck. Everything I find is only partly OK, not perfect. Any ideas?

This is a tough one I must admit, Most of the bags that carry laptops are a bit flat... Youwould want like a really large tote... If you're going to put a pair of shoes int here... ANy particular brands you're looking at?

It is tough, isn't it? I think I need to not be thinking "laptop bag" specifically but a general bag. I was looking at this one:

Cole Haan : Sale's SMALL TRAVEL DUFFLE : Village Collection Handbags

Sorry I can't post a picture -- it doesn't seem to want to let me link directly to the pic.

Well, it doesn't have the outside pockets that you're looking for but I use a Coach Large Gallery tote when I travel and need to carry my laptop, files, mag, essentials. I can generally clip a wristlet to the outside as my wallet and throw everything else inside.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I don't know about totes, though, I think if you don't have a closing top and you have to shove it under the seat in front of you, can't things slide out?
