Default YSL, Bergé Art Collection To Be Auctioned at Christie’s

    This was on WWD:

PARIS — Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé's extensive art collection will be sold in Paris by Christie's, the auction house said Wednesday.

The sale, sure to be one of the most spectacular of the season, will be in late February, but an exact date has not been set. It will be held in association with Bergé's own Paris auction house, Pierre Bergé & Associates.

Bergé previously told WWD he planned to auction the collections soon after the French couturier's death from brain cancer on June 1.

Saint Laurent and Bergé established a civil union in France not long before the designer's death at age 71. Bergé said half of the auction proceeds would come to him, with the other half going to the Yves Saint Laurent and the Pierre Bergé Foundation.

Considering the pair's voracious appetites for collecting, the sale at Christie's promises to be stunning.

Saint Laurent's residence here on the Rue de Babylone was crammed with masterworks by Goya, Mondrian, Matisse and Léger as well as a formidable collection of furniture by the likes of Eileen Gray, Pierre Legrain, Jean-Michel Franck, Pierre Chareau and Eugene Printz.

Bergé's apartment on the Rue Bonaparte is equally impressive, juxtaposing a collection of bronzes and Renaissance art objects with paintings by the likes of James Ensor and Gericault.

Bergé and Saint Laurent's residences include a manor in Normandy, which is being sold, and houses in Tangier and Marrakech in Morocco. Bergé sold the collection of American furniture and art that decorated his pied-à-terre in the Pierre Hotel in New York through Christie's a few years ago

Be still my galloping heart. That sounds like a TDF sale. I'll probably go onto the Christie's website and look at the items for sale, and dream.
Us girls we are so magical, soft skin, red lips, so kissable.
