Design extraordinaire, Betsey Johnson has sold a controlling stake in her company to Castanea Partners, a Boston based private equity firm. Final details have yet to be confirmed, however Chantal Bacon, chief executive officer of Betsey Johnson, told WWD, “It gives us really opportunities. For the past 30 years, we've really established a brand, and with their help we're going to take it to the next level."

One of the benefits the new partnership will offer is rolling out the collection to the wider audience, with plans to launch into childrenswear and bridal lines, along with opening ten new stores within the year.
