    Default Identity fraud

As of today, Yours truly is now a victim of identity theft. I was sitting around trying to figure out what to do on a beautiful sat. afternoon when I got the call from the Bank of America credit card fraud department.

They said someone has been using my CC to purchase music from the apple I-tune store, some other place call Slumber..something, and a few other purchase that is currently in pending...ALL were online purchases. Luckily, I will not be charge for any of this.

Ahhhhh How I love the world....

Oh sorry to hear that, that sucks. I'm just glad you're not getting charged for any of the thief's purchases.

did they decline all the fraudulent charges?

I guess you have to get a new cc. I hope you aren't out any money.
I bet you feel kind of sick.

Thank you ladies. All the charges added up to a whopping $76.00 (not counting the pending charges) so far. EVen though it's not a big amount..it still sucks.

They were trying to make a bunch of small purcheses hoping that no one will notice. And from the stuff that was bought...Im gonna guess that the suspect may either be a 12 year old girl or a gay dude.

Sorry about that Guy - I wonder how they got your CC info.

This happened to my parents once a long time ago. The person got our CC # when my mom called an ordered something from a catalog, and the lady sold the number to someone for money. The CC people knew it wasn't my parents bc they were sending all this stuff to this place on Long Island, and we lived in VA, and it was like $3,000 worth of stuff from a bunch of different places.

Sorry to hear that but glad that it's resolved.

My DH was a victim of bankcard fraud. We discovered it when he tried to withdraw cash and was told he's reached his limit for the day. $1000 had been taken out. When he called the bank they said the transaction had taken place at a machine at midnight somewhere in the city which was weird as we were at home at the time. The bank said we had to prove that we or a friend had not used the card in order for them to compensate him. To cut a long story short, my DH went to a police station gave his bankcard to a police officer and sat there the whole night. As expected, the thieves withdrew $1000 again from his bank account that night. But because my DH had an alibi and a police officer confirming that the bankcard was in his possession at the time, DH got all the money back.

Yeah, I guess we were lucky that the thieves did it again and we were able to prove that it was a fraud.

Apparently there are syndicates that somehow get an imprint of your bankcard and video tape you entering your PIN number and they create duplicate cards. So you've got to be careful and look around bank machines when you take money out and make sure there are no suspicious gadgets and cameras cause these criminals are really clever. Plus it's hard to prove that it wasn't you using the card taking the money out.
