Yeah, they don't carry anything like Marc Jacobs or Balenciaga. But they do have quite a bit of stuff. Last I checked they had Burberry, F+C, MBMJ, Juicy, MK, Coach, Gryson, Gustto, RM, Kooba, etc. Not a bad bag selection by any means.

No - that's not true at all. Having a roll-over CC balance is not going to help your credit score at all. If you use the CC and then at the time the balance is due, pay it off 100%, you will have perfect credit. NEVER have a revolving balance...it's not good for you in any way.

Jess, a VM CC would be your best bet. There is not any interest to worry about and purchases over $300 you can put on a 10 month plan paying 10%. So if you buy a $450 bag you will only have to pay $45 a month for 10 months. Or you can always pay it off sooner.
Take a trip and check out a VM. You can always go online and apply for the card and make online purchases. The CS is really great and like bRs said they can probably track down a Faridah in your choice of color!

    JessLR...

If you are going to school and you have student loans, you will already be building your credit and don't really need a credit card. Also, if you have a car note, even if your parents co-signed with you you will also be building your credit.

I would be very careful with major credit cards. I got one, and I pay it off in full each month but they move my payments around on me sometimes...so that I have a late payment ... it won't affect my credit score unless its beyond 30 days past due, but you will be slapped with the interest at a higher rate. They have only successfully done this to me once, and I had everything reversed because I bitched about it to them - but they said they would only do it once. So, what I do now is if I have to use it, I do (usually for airline reservations or internet purchases that I want the protection on) and then I go right in and pay it off once the charge hits.

Also, I opened the account and they gave me a $1,000 credit limit and they keep moving it up and up, even though my balance is paid off..so really watch it if you get one because it is so tempting to use it and justify needless purchases!

Nashville, that's why a VM account is the best thing ever! But I guess you are limited to just that store. LOL!

the only kind i would ever recommend is getting a card that offers free interest for a year or two i have had several like that and you are able to pay off things within a certain time period without paying any interest the only catch is that once the year is up you start paying interest so i would suggest cancelling it once the free interest ends

I had to have a major credit card because I cannot have a purchase card at my company because I don't rank high enough. So, when I travel I have to use my own credit card for the car rental and stuff then get reimbursed. They will usually pre-pay my airfare and hotel, but I have to pay for incidentals.

But, since I have it anyways I do use it ... but always zero it out at the end of the month.

There are no VM's anywhere near me. I haven't even heard of them before this forum...

I didn't have dental insurance while I was in college and had to have a root canal. I had to open up a Care Credit account, and it was interest free for 18 months, but if you didn't pay the account off in full by the end of the 18 months, then you ahd to pay all the ACCRUED interest as well.

Well, my DH mailed the payment late and I ended paying 22% interest on a $1,000 procedure.

Of course, I had no option in this...I didn't have any $$ at the time. Now, I have insurance :-)

I had this happen to me... Make sure you understand what you're getting into with ANY credit card. Lol. I thought no interest for a year meant, NO interest for that year, and after that you start paying interest. Well, $400 in accrued interest later, on a 900 purchase (Davids bridal sucks!) I figured out what it meant.

In fact... it's a novel idea... you don't want to have like 5 cards and lots of bags and live in a box...

Credit Cards are a GREAT opportunity to totally screw your life up! Be prepared to live like a gypsy when you cant pay them off, that is what happened to my son's music teacher, now she has 3 jobs to pay off her cards... but hey, at least she was able to buy some Gucci! It's TOTALLY worth screwing your credit up for!

Kiss the future house/car/speedboat goodbye! And all you will have to show for it is a nice handbag! Hope it lasts forever!

    Just my 2 cents
Yeah... the GUCCI will definitely last forever!!!

OK - would purchasing furniture for a new apartment be a good thing to put on a CC?

Also, does anyone know of CCs that don't charge interest for the 1st year??
