Reading all of the stories about spending beyond our means I would have to say that I definitely do. I feel like I work hard and should be able to reward myself. I need to have more restraint and not be so compulsive. It has got me in trouble before and I need to learn from my mistakes...

I do not spend beyond my means -- My grandma was old school and I learned from her. If you do not have enough CASH for the item , then do not buy it !! I make all of my purchases with cash or on the debit card --- -- I guess you would say that I am a frugal/bargain shopper for middle end/higher end items. -- I frequent the outlet malls quite often and have saved by joining their mall programs . The coupon books/sales have been great to me.

No I do not. I don't want to get personal but a few years ago, my family got into so much trouble.

I watched them go through all of this .
That is why I refuse to buy anything but what is the best. when ever I shop and see something cute or cheap. I always think about if I didn't buy that one thing , theres always one more low priced item after another and I could have help my family pay off debts. Because of something that small it can break up a family. My concept of spending has become reformed I only buy what I need, and whats high quality because I don't have any $$ and I can't waste it on something thats a quick cute buy like guess brand or something.

Sorry BRS and marissa. - horrible story

I just noticed this is an old thread, but for some reason its still up.. hmm.

Its funny because when i was in college I always felt dead broke and I always thought to myself "When i graduate and get a job I'll have money and I will be able to afford the things I want". HA! While I do have a lot more money now and I do have some of the things I want (house, car) I also have wayyyyy more bills and debt to pay off. So it's relative, sometimes when you're broke and have nothing it's almost better than when you have a bunch of stuff and have to stress about paying all your bills!

But as for living outside my means - I'm not too bad most of the time. My one weakness is vacation. I'm not too obsessed with bags or fashion or anything, but I LOVE to travel. I'll hop on a plane to just about anywhere that has a beach if the mood strikes me. And that can definitely get me into debt fast. But the way I look at it is this - my memories are priceless and I want to live life to the fullest while I can. If I have to pay for it a little later... hey, it was worth it.

I do not live beyond my means ...
I always pay cash/debit ... rent is always paid ... I have no credit card debt once so ever -
However , my family and friends think I do by spending $100 to $900 on purses !!!

I have spent beyond my means using my credit card which is why I am in some debt which I don't like at all, but I am digging my way out and believe me it won't happen again. So, now I don't do it anymore. If I don't have the money to buy something I just don't get it. Believe me it can be very hard sometimes but I have to stick to it. I am down to using only one credit card too. I'm doing very well at this moment.

I'm working hard to pay off 12K in debt by May. I'm left with literally a couple of dollars in the bank, but i've got to get out of this debt.

*Bump* I'am a single Mom to 4 great kids, ages 17 to 2 1/2! So I have to try to stay on a budget:) It can be hard because we all deserve to be rewarded for being Mom's, going to school, getting a fabulous job, etc... My most recent Coach Bag was a BD gift, and I had the PCE so that made the purchase alot less painful, lol!!! But when I shopped for my Sophia, I did something new, I chose leather. For the simple fact that I will get more for my money and it will last alot longer..(This bag has alot of meaning, my kids helped pay for it:) But I never shop or buy anything Until I pay the Bill's and then I put the other money in the bank.I also shop at BJ's( wholesale), Walmart etc. for daily necessitie's..I'am fortunate to have a couple of Outlet Mall's near me.So I can get the kids clothes at Old Navy, Children's Place, Justice, etc. They are at a better price point..Especially when the Season's change, you can get Great deals:)Well, thank's for letting me share

Try being in a nice home with a swimming pool, that we just remodeled and totally broke to the point of lights being turned off for not paying electric bill. I was mortified. Now, we're back living paycheck to paycheck, a little poorer, but a heck of a lot wiser. Perhaps one of these days I'll get out of debt and be able to pay all bills on time. That is my goal! I know about living beyond your means, I've done it most of my life. I can totally sympathize!

I have the tendency to go a little far, but never to far where there is no coming back! I try my darnest to stick a list and/or budget when shopping. The older I'm getting the more wise I'm becoming! LOL Not wanting a life full of regrets!
