honestly - I've travelled domestically for work and usually I'm traveling at least once per month. Sometimes it's a 3 day trip to NYC, sometimes it's a week in Las Vegas for tradeshows and then sometimes it's 2-3 weeks Internationally (like this trip to China). I only have a cat and a boyfriend at home who live with me but, it's still really difficult. The phone conversations never make me feel any closer to home and I get REALLY tired of the traveling. Bouncing from plane to plane to plane to plane and hotel to hotel to hotel to hotel. It's stressful and can really make you a little nutty.

I have a bunch of friends in the same industry as me - some travel less, some more - but they all become super jaded after the first 2-3 trips. It no longer becomes fun and exciting, it's straight up work and it's pretty annoying.

And even though you build up free sky miles from work travel, unfortunately because I am always going places I don't have the time to even plan a personal vacation for myself!! The most I can do is stay domestically for a weekend because of the job being so needy. I'm trying to change that and plan ahead for a better personal vacation but - it happens.

I don't see any harm in trying it out - some people are great at traveling all the time. I don't know if I'm great at it, but I can handle it. However, I'll tell you, the BEST part of traveling is coming to your own bed with your loved one and just snuggling up for the whole weekend. :)

And don't forget...money isn't everything. If you're not there to spend it, what good is it?

well if I try it, and dont like it... Then I have to find a new job... Again. I am underqualified for what I do now, so sometimes I get a bit bored at work, but the pay is about 20% higher than my previos job, which I was qualified for... Plus the med benefits are great

If I did this for 2 years, we could be 100% debt free including our primary residence, which is currently rented bc I needed to be closer to work...

I would be doing mainly domestic, with three weeks in Asia per year...

I would only do this for two years, then contact a head hunter to find me a job with no travel or stay with the company if they have a controller position available... Idk ... Hubby said its my decision ... But is that a trap?

I was shot down point blank when I expressed interest. Not enough experience...oh well. But...they said I could go on the trips with whoever else they hire if I want to travel and learn...but I am like...no thanks. I am not going to travel for what I get paid now. **Ick**
