Default So I took the Nursing Entrance Test...

...and I was so worried about how I'd do since this was like last minute and all!

So here is the CT state avereage for current applicants:

    Math - 55%
    Science Reading Comp. - 48%
    Written Expression - 57%

    And these were MY results:

    Math - 90%
    Sci Read Comp - 76%
    Written Exp. - 77%

I'm so happy with my scores and now I feel more confident in applying to the program. Sorry - just wanted to express that to you guys!

I want to become a LPN first then become a RN, which takes like an additional year through the Bridge program that is offered here.

Nursing is such a great field to get into. I met a RN when we were at Newport - her husband and her are boaters so that is how we met. Anyways, she told me how great it really is to be a Nurse. The pay is great, it's a very respectable profession, and also very rewarding. She also told me that they are really in demand and that I could have all of the overtime I want (some places have mandatory overtime ).

Anyways, I just regiserted for some pre-reqs since they stated that they would give more consideration for admission to those that have either completed or signed up for the required courses. I just took the placement test at a local community college and I did really well. The advisor that I spoke with said that I was one of the first in a while to reach a high enough score to be able to sign up for the requiered courses (English and Math). I guess most applicants didn't score high enough on the Placement test and had to take pre-reqs for the pre-reqs, lol. So I was happy with myself...

I just sent in the application to the LPN program and now I must wait to hear back. They're suppose to notify applicants in early June, so hopefully that is only like 1 or 2 weeks from now. Gosh, I don't know what I would do if I don't get in... I really hope I do

You will. No worries. It's a great field to get in to...sometimes you can work at a hospital and work 3 12 hour shifts and that would be your work week...others you can work four days on, four days off, or 8-5 if that is your thing.

My sister in law is a Nurse Practitioner, which is almost like a doctor (some Nurse Practitioners can even write prescritpions, although she can't because she didn't want that responsibility and didn't get that certification)...she's older (in her mid to late 50's) and she's had (and still has!) a great career.

I would want to be the nurse that worked from 7pm-7am three days a week...my husband had a kidney stone and was in the hospital overnight and the nurse sat at the station and knitted until it was time to do her rounds. Looked Peaceful (although...I am sure there are tough nights!)

Good luck...you will do fine...you will be accepted.
