I'm sorry this happened to you bRs! I'm glad you got the problem resolved though, and got a new card number.

Glad You got it resolved. I hope that they catch who ever did this to you. This sort of thing happened a couple of years ago to me and my DH. Some one got a hold of our card number and and a nice vacation. They went to Florida and the Bahamas. Thankfully all of this got credited back to our account. Everytime I hear stories like this it just gives me such a sick feeling. We live in such a scary world.

Done...I think...Until I find something that catches my eye

^^^ What's sad is that there wasn't anything I could do to protect myself in this situation since it was a security breach at the Visa card company. Yeesh... you would think they would be trying a little harder to prevent stuff like this from happening.

Um... somebody named Colin, apparently. Or at least that was the name on the ticket. Maybe they thought they could get away with it because it is in another country.

My Dh's Visa got compromised recently too. The credit union closed his account and issued a new card.
Hate that this happened to you.
Unfortunately, with the state of the world's economy, I think we'll be seeing more of this.

Do you have renters insurance or homeowners insurance? Most policies have an identity theft coverage and if you contact them they will take care of all the legwork for you checking with bureaus, etc. They also reimburse you for losses. If your credit is good to excellent, I would worry about it. If you dont' have a good FICO I wouldnt worry TOO much because most likely even if thye used your information they wouldn't be able to get any credit.

HOWEVER!! I have heard of some people having mistaken identity and getting in to weird legal problems...

Also, some banks have this identity theft coverage on certain accounts. I know SunTrust does, and I am sure most of the bigger banks have some sort of assurance...but this type of thing will be on the accounts you have to pay a small service fee on or keep a minimum balance of $5,000 or so...

    Default need some help!

    Hi ladies,

I just joined and am not totally sure how the posting works but I have a question.

I'm looking to buy a louis vuitton speedy 25 and am bidding on one on ebay. I did some online searching and a site called girlsgoneglamorous came up. They have a speedy for 389.00. I think that is crazy cheap but I dont know if its real. The site guarantees 100% authentic but I'm not convinced. Do you guys know anything about the site?

    Thanks,
    Katie

^^^ Well, for starters, you could post your question in the LV authentication thread located in the LV section. This thread is about how someone used my card number to buy plane tickets in Canada.

No, we don't have any renters insurance. We can't afford something like that at the moment. Anyway, the bank gave me my money back. There is protection on my account with them in regards to unauthorized use. I was assured that there was no way the person could have gotten any other information. It was just my debit card number. This person probably had a whole string of numbers that they got from the hacking. They probably just tried some to see if they worked and it just happened that mine did. I'll check my credit report here soon to make sure nothing fishy is on there. But whoever this was mostly likely has no way to get credit out in my name. Heck, they didn't even make it on the airplane! LOL!

IF you get a renters policy through the same insurance company as your auto insurance, they normally give you a discount on both policies. When I was in college, it actually was cheaper per month to have renters insurance with auto insurance than auto insurance alone...it was weird. I told the insurance agent the same thing (I cant afford it...)

Homeowners insurance is a whole other story...that crap is HIGH!!!
