Default Paying Lots of $$$ for Junk

In the past few months I've bought:

$1,200 eyeglasses with crystals on the handles. Four crystals shortly fell off.

A $1,500 kitchen light fixture that doesn't work. It has 3 pendants and 4 spotlights. Two of the pendants don't work and two of the spotlights burn out every few weeks.

Various designer clothing on which buttons fall off and zippers don't work.

I'm really tired of paying a lot of money for garbage and it isn't just once in awhile anymore. Seems like a lot of places are just coasting on their names. Everything is made overseas with cheap labor and it's showing.

Am I alone in this, or does everything everyone else buys work?

Take that stuff back. Well, at least I would. I spent $300 on Juicy Sunglasses only to have A crystal fall out on one side. I took them back to nordies and exchanged them for another pair. If I'm spending that much I expect quality and I expect it to WORK.

I've returned stuff that shrunk in the wash when the tags said it wouldn't. I wouldn't put up with it. Now if I don't pay a lot and it breaks then well that's kinda to be expected. But for that kind of $ you may have to complain a bit, but you're paying for them to stand behind their product.

I do take things back when practical (the light isn't practical, I paid to have it installed and don't want to pay to de-install and lug it back). It's just a hassle and more expense to make a trip back or ship something back when it shouldn't have failed in the first place. These child slave labor factories the designers love just aren't doing the job anymore.

I think that alot of designers are cutting corners and trying to save money, just like everyone. The problem is that we have become accustomed to the quality that comes with the label. I have been reading that alot of the designers are starting to make lower lines that will be more affordable for more people. I would think that the quality would suffer?? Or do they just make such a profit margin that they are willing to make less??

this is old BUT. no your not the only one. I always make sure now I buy something that was made anywhere but CHINA . I usually buy very good things. Maybe its the designers you're picking? Juicy couture honestly is not something I would consider High Quality designer goods, its more like expensive low craftsman ship their stuff looks soo teeny bopperish. try to stay away from that .GOOD LUCK hun!!

Yeah if you paid that kind of money I'd take that stuff back and either get a refund or get it fixed. I've got a drawer full of receipts in my kitchen for that exact purpose.

Ive owned several leather handbags that were pretty expensive that after just a few months the leather started to crack and look old. I also have leather handbags that were expensive that I've owned for years and the leather on them still looks new. If it starts to look faded and old before it is, I stay away from that designer. Or at least I don't spend MAJOR bucks on them again.

It's crazy to believe that +$1,000 sunglasses would fall apart like that. But if it's from a designer that does not make sunglasses as a primary business...they probably licensed the brand to another manufacturer. Would probably explain your situation. Generally speaking, it would be wise to buy brands that are well establish in the particular product line.

Example, never buy sunglasses from a brand that has traditionally been in handbags. You're just getting glasses from some other random company with the brand's name slapped on it.
