    Default Bag s.o.s!!

    Hi all,
I bought a vintage LV Jeune fille off ebay, got it about a week ago and it smells of smoke Does anyone have any reccommendations about how to get the smell of smoke out of a bag? I've tried putting it in a cold tumble drier with drier sheets, which did make a big difference, and I've now got it in a sealed plastic bag with odor neutralizors, but the smell is just taking aaages to get rid of. Does anyone have some similar experiences and managed to get the smell out? I'm afraid if I can't get rid of the smell I won't ever use the bag!! Thanks!!

Ok, I read in a thread somewhere to wrap it up and bury it in kitty litter. Apparently kitty litter absorbs the smoke smell. Just don't let any cats near the litter!!

Lmao! Thanks, I will try that next... Fortunately I dont have any cats so I wont have to contend with having the bag smelling even worse than smoke!

Yeah, that is very important to ask. To be safe you should just assume it isn't from a smoke free home unless they put it is, because they usually will! GOOD LUCK! Let us know what works in case it ever happens to anyone else!

Yeh, I guess I've learned that the hard way lol. Nevermind, I'm sure it'll come out in time, I'm gona try everything possible lol. I guess as I don't smoke myself I kinda assume that its a minority that do and it didn't even cross my mind.. it will from now though!!

Lol thanks! I hope it works. So far I think putting it in a cold tumble dryer with dryer sheets has made the biggest difference, although the smoke doesn't seem to shift from the zip hmmm

When I used to smoke in my house years ago while my husband was out of town (He hated it!!) I would always put cups of vinegar around the house before he came home and it absorbed the smoke smell from curtains, blankets, etc. He never noticed the smell. (I was young and evil!!) Maybe you could try to put it in a small confined area with cups of vinegar around it for a few days. It might help:)

    BTW...don't smoke anymore...8 years now!

After Jess's brilliant suggestion, I buried my wallet in litter and after 4 days the smell is completely gone. So I can attest to it working.

What did you wrap your wallet in? I got an Epi Saint-Jacques last week and it smells something terrible like mothballs

I read somewhere to put some Baking Soda in a cup and leave it in the bag, so I"m trying that, but I'm interested in trying the kitty litter method as it sounds so crazy
