Hi girls, I just discovered let-trade.com thanks to makeupmama... anyway I really really like this... is it worth it? I'll post the link too...

I love it because it's classic, I can use it, even if I have a bub cos I've got a Juicy Couture diaper bag anyway to keep my son's essentials... so this bag is for me to carry with my wallet,pda and mobile... what do you think?

I've heard that Let-Trade's bags smell like moth balls...but you can also get the smell out. They're a reputable seller though!

The patina is either really dark...or dirty - I can't tell. but for only $179.00USD...it's not a bad price!

If it were ME...I wouldn't buy it since it's not that big...and I don't like for the patina to be that dark.

I agree with Jess. I have heard the same about the moth ball smell.

It is a fun bag but I think the Patina is a bit too dark for my taste. But hey that is a great price and you won't have to worry so much about it getting dirty!!

$179 is a great price for an authentic LV... If you know you'll use it... go for it! Just study the pictures closely!!!

If you bought it...you could try to clean it. I've heard of people using those "Mr. Clean: Magic Erasers" and that seems to get the dirt off.

Hey, didn't you hear the moth ball thing from me?

My CB pochette smelled like moth balls, but the smell eventually went away. They store them like that to preserve them I think.

Anyways, I think that is a great price and if you like the style and are comfortable with owning a used bag... then go for it. I know I don't have any problems buying from Let-Trade. Their stuff is authentic and their customer service is awesome.

If you love it and it's at a great price, go for it. I normally carry my mini gaucho when I'm out with the kids which I find more accessible cause I, too, use a diaper bag for their stuff.

thanks girls... my husband said I can buy it but not until the end of the month.... but I'm really keen on it....

anyway, may I ask, ive been trying to work out what the 'patina" is as I'm an LV virgin.... sorry for being naive...

You can use the Mr Clean magic eraser (wet) on it. Just make sure you scrub it very light. Then use a good moisturizer on it like Apple care.

LV uses vegetable dyed leather that is sort of a creamy color when brand new. As it ages, it turns a golden brown. This is what patina means.
There is a difference between patina and dirty though. Like sometimes you'll see speedy handles with black finger marks on them. That's dirt and oil that has penetrated the leather.

Yeah! They use mothballs over there to help protect the bags from the bugs that fly in the night sky and get attracted to light.

Here is the definition for mothballs:
Mothballs are small balls of chemical pesticide and deodorant used when storing clothing and other articles susceptible to damage from mold or moth larvae (especially clothes moths like Tineola bisselliella).

Their use when clothing is stored out-of-season gave rise to the colloquial usage of the terms mothballed and put into mothballs to refer to anything which is put into storage or whose operation is suspended.

Older mothballs consisted primarily of naphthalene, but due to naphthalene's flammability, modern mothballs use 1,4-dichlorobenzene instead. Both of these ingredients have a strong, pungent odor often associated strongly with mothballs. Camphor, an insect repellent, can be used in mothballs also.

The idea with both chemicals is to kill moths and moth larvae with the fumes. Both naphthalene and paradichlorobenzene sublimate, meaning they transition from a solid straight to a gas. The gas is toxic to the moths.

For either of these chemicals to be effective, they need to be placed with the clothing in a sealed container so the fumes can build up and kill the moths. In a sealed atmosphere like this, the fumes are not harmful to people because they are contained. The main threat would occur when opening the containers, or from wearing clothes immediately after opening (especially a problem for infants). A solution is to open the containers outside and let the clothes hang and air out for a day before wearing.

Adolescents have recently been found to use mothballs for huffing.[1][2] Mothballs have also been found to be a carcinogen (i.e. a cancer-causing agent).

Mothballs can also be used as a snake repellent. Mothballs (or sulfur) is usually used along with the aid of naphtha for these purposes. When mixed together, the snake sampling the air senses its acrid stench and its scent sampling is overloaded by the stench. It can't sense prey or danger as well with this smell, so it turns away. Put the mothballs around the perimeter of your yard leaving an "escape" for the snakes to get away or they will be locked in your yard. Caution should be exercised, as mothballs are not child or pet friendly and they can kill some types of plants. Rain or water will disintegrate the mothballs, so frequent reapplication will be necessary.

Mothballs are also said to keep silverfish away from wall paper by placing in 4 corners of a room, and/or mice away from composts (the latter unverified).
