I have a question. I have my Multicolor Marilyn and sometimes I wish I had a matching wallet for her...after all, I did drop a lot of $$ on her and feel weird carrying a brown Coach Mini-skinny with her. I was thinking about buying a cles...
I was thinking about a regular brown monogram cles, or even a camo cles. I don't want to get the white multicolor because...well, it would get dirty because it would get handled a lot.
Then, I was thinking about it some more...the mini skinny only set me back $40, which is still a lot more than most women pay for a purse (That sentance of wisdom was told to my by my own mother, who was shocked I was willing to pay that much for something that small).
The cles is over $200...that is a good start to buy a F&C bag or another LV...
So those of you who have the cles, is it worth it? Or should I seek out a lighter colored mini skinny for my small marilyn?
I love my perforated cles! Thing is, the perfo cles is bigger than the mono cles, so it's more useful to me because it holds more. The mono cles will defintely hold more than the mc cles, because of the way they're sewn.
I also have a mini skinny, and its more square and more pliable - I think it could possibly fit more than the mono cles. Depending on how much you're planning on putting into it, a mini skinny might be a better idea just because it can fit more.
I'm a fan of the Cles... definitely! But since you have a wishlist, I would put those $200+ towards a handbag instead... What's wrong with a Coach Mini?? IMO... I would prefer a F+C over a cles..

In my bag collecting 'phases' I've bought and sold a total of 5 LV cles. I get them, love them, then come to realize that I spent $$$ on such a tiny piece. Case in point... last week I got rid of two small pieces of LV to fund a 02 Balenciaga First. Granted, I got a super deal on the bbag, but still. I'm down to just one now and I'm not even using it at the moment. And when that BBag comes, you better bet that it'll have a coach piece somewhere in there :)
i would pick the coach mini over the cles. honestly, i think the cles is cute and all, but a waste of money. really, you could put that towards an item on your wishlist like Viva said.
i dont think that LV is a waste of money, its a quality piece. i had a mini skinny for a year and used it daily and it looked horrible, but my cles still looks amazing with the same amount of usage.
you pay a higher price for LV for a reason. i dont think its a waste of money, i think its an investment
Well, even if I only used the mini for a year, that's $42 at retail (and I usually catch them on sale for at least 30% off). It would take over four years for me to realize the "investment" for the LV...
Four year payback usually isn't a good investment.
well most LV products are designed to be used for MANY years and then it works out to that investment. i would never buy a cles and only use it for a year, thats silly, but i would never buy a coach skinny and expect its quality to outlast a year....coach mini skinnies are not well made like LV is and frankly id rather pay more up front for something thats better in quality and will last 5x as long.
and with designer items, a 4 year payback in investment is pretty good considering the annual average of 10% price increases....also LV HOLDS their value. you can sell a 03 cles on ebay right now for about 100, and when they bought that cles back in 03 it was about that much! so they break even and had about 5 years usage. you cannot possibly sell a used mini skinny for over 20.00 and after 5 years of usage the skinny would probably be horrid looking (considering i was disgusted at the quality of what mine looked like after a year)
