Grin My Louis Vuitton Find - Plese Help

This post it a little wordy - Just want to give all details.

Okay, I started ebaying two months ago. I live down the street
from a Supergoodwill. The store is also a donation center
meaning they get and set out stuff everyday, all day. I stop by
twice a day midmorning and afternoon. This is important as
new items aren't set out for very long before I see them

Imagine my utter surprise as I see among the disheveled bags
a Luois Vuitton! I was so excited, I almost puked. Right
behind it was a NEVER used Michael Kors. So, I happily went
up to the counter and purchased my bags at $3.50 a peice!

So, I tell a couple friends who tell me it must be a fake. They
come over and look at it and say it looks good to them. They
point me to a lady who owns one and says she can spot a fake.
She looks at it and says it's authentic (don't think she was an
expert by any means). She said fakes have a plastic edge on
strap. So... I go online and find out that kakes are everywhere
and very good. I sytematically go through all the links on spotting
fakes. So far my bag doesn't have the tell-tale signs. It looks
legit. The date code corresponds to what it should. Made in
France. Date code is MI1002. The date code was etched just
under the far right side. Hard to see, had to use flashlight.
Can't get it to show on pics.

Yesturday I found this exact bag on ebay. The lister is selling
it at $395 - Beginning bid and $495 to buy it now. Lots of pics,
good selling background. My bag looks exactly like it. She says
    original retail was $800.

My bag has some damage (see pics). 2 scratches about an inch
long on one side and some rub-off on two corners. It's dirty
inside. I will gently clean before selling.

So, ladies, please take a look and offer your opinions. I took this
bag to a trendy part of town with Boutiques. They couldn't help
me. They had Louis Vuitton bags (One was a fake! from what
I learned here) Their bags were very worn looking and selling
    for far too cheap.

If it in fact looks good. What would you suggest a fair price to
    sell would be?

    Thank you!!

Hm, it doesn't really look authentic to me...the pleating on the corners is weird.

    Hi Kimmie,

Is the top of the shoulder strap black Vernis Leather or Vachetta Leather? Is the zipper pull engraved with "louis vuitton" on it's sides? Can you post a clearer picture of the Louis Vuitton tag that's inside? So far, (i'm not saying it is), it looks ok to me... Although a clearer picture of the inside tag, and hardware would be nice...

...and if it is authentic, omg! What a deal! Good Luck...

The top of the strap is Black Vernis. The underside is tan (is that the vechetta?)

50 pictues later - I finally got a decent one of the inside tag. It's posted along with the best
pic of the zipper I could manage to get. Yes, the sides of the zipper say "Louis Vuitton.

    Thank you for responding!

    Thank you for your opinion!

Assuming it is authentic. I would like list it for 100% authenticity & satisfaction for full refund. Prefer to overnight bag. (this so that they can let me know if unsatisfied soon after paying). I've only sold 5 items on ebay - So I'm not sure if anyone would trust me to begin with! Do you have any suggestions about anything I could do to boost confidence?

With the damages shown, and assuming it did retail in 2002 for 800 What would *you* sell it for?

Do you live near an LV botique or will yuo vacation anywhere near one? May be worth the time to go and see so that when you sell it you can sell for 100% Authentic...

Out of curiosity...why would you part with this lovely little bag, if it is authentic?

There is a LV boutique in Washington D.C. It's 2 hours away from me. As you could imagine, I'm really avoiding that route. I did call them and was told they will
authenticate it there, but (as your probably already know) I get nothing saying so.

So, do I spend 4 hours in a car to authenticate a bag that people will just
have to believe I'm telling the truth anyhow? I mean, is there a secret code
or something they give me to say I've been there? (mostly kidding!)

Why would I want to part with this bag? I'm really not a chic woman. I really,
really, really, really, Don't want to offend anyone. But I think it's silly to pay
that much for a bag! Mind you I'm from a blue collar background. This bag
is relatively smaller than most bags I use - I like my Liz Claiborine.
Just fine! I won't say I haven't thought about it... I have! I figure if it takes
anymore trouble to sell I might hang onto it. Use it for special events! But a big
part of me thinks -- That's silly, take the money. The bag will make someone
who truly appreciates it much more happier than it would me.

I would be scared to sell a fake and tick someone off on ebay... So me personnallu I would authenticate it if I were going to sell it... If I were going to keep it I wouldnt make a special trip

U really cannot sell something as 100% authentic if you aren't 100% sure that it is real

I really don't want to tick someone off in ebay. My thinking was I would guarantee authenticity or a full refund - Not that I guarantee it's 100% authentic. - But, now that I'm thinking about it. It's leaving it up to the buyer to find out. And, even though I'd refund the money - It would make me look terrible if it wasn't - thus ruining my budding ebay hobby.

Okay, understanding now that I need to get the bag authenticated (but really not wanting to drive all that way to do it). If, by chance, a relative lives closer to one (I have aunts out of state) Could I mail
it them to get it authenticated? I don't see why it would matter if I personally do it? If not. I'll suck it up and go. On the upside, they have an excellent zoo in DC that's free!

That would be up to u to have a family member to authenticate it

I would be careful too as I read somewhere on this forum or another one that some dishonest ebay buyers who pay via paypal will tell paypal that the bag is fake and then you are out the money and the bag

Another idea.... Are there any swanky thrift stores in DC? I imagine there are ... If you know its real maybe try to sell directly to a reseller

You may get less than you would from ebay, but with all the fakes floatin around and dishonest people, I'd rather be safe than sorry

Of course of I found an authentic LV for $3.50 you'd have to pry it out of my cold dead hands

omg... I think this is a Monogram Mat fowler bag... Not 100% sure...goggle that name and see what you think

Looks too dull to be vernis which is what I was thinking when I thought it might be fake
