Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
My sister just emailed me this article:
Louis Vuitton's ‘Monogramoflauge’ Revealed! -- The Cut: New York Magazine's Fashion Blog

"Behold! The much-fussed-about "monogramoflauge" design by Marc Jacobs and Takashi Murakami is making its grand debut at the Brooklyn Museum tomorrow. Apparently that "oflauge" part was literal. Fashion Week Daily reports that leather Louis Vuitton goods in the new pattern will come in three shades of green and be sold at the pop-up Vuitton shop in the Brooklyn Museum (part of the Murakami retrospective kicking off tomorrow) before hitting LV shops worldwide. The 'flauge is a quaint way to bring high fashion to the outer boroughs, but after all the hype, we kinda expected something a little zanier, ya know? Anyhow, it will be interesting to see who buys these bags. Maybe hipsters will start flaunting all that money we know they have."

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
I don't like it... very disappointing. I was thinking it was going to be a solid white or black background with different colored camo within the LVs... you know, more mutlicolor-y in appearance.

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
Yeah, that's what a lot of people were hoping for. . including me. Multicolore-ish

I wonder if this line will be available in more colors.

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
Shocked, I really expected a lot more diversity, looks like computer imaging 101 that will be priced rediculously! I'm not much for camo at all (especially typical run of the mill army green) but if this was a speedy I do think I would like it.
In my head I was picturing the normal monogram canvas with hot pink and multicolored camo (I was thinking maybe camo the colors like in the Neverfull hands bag at MoCA) over top in flat colors with the brown monogram peeking through, I'm in love with my mental creation of the bags much more than the actual design.
I'm going up either saturday or sunday. So I will give my first hand account. I know I'm currently in love with the fluorescent green stam and if there's a fluorescent counterpart to this (which I'd be surprised if there's not with marc jacobs nuclear fluorescents that overtook the marc jacobs section of my nordstrom and murakami's track record in general, especially in regards to his art) I half way have the feeling ill fall in love (its kind of growing on me already) and I'm broke! I'm so excited to go check it out! Now I'm hyped for neon and if that's not one of the 3 greens I might cry, haha.
How much do you girls think these will be priced at? I wish I knew which bags are being made!

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
There's this article too. Interesting....

The Takashi Murakami–Louis Vuitton exhibit kicks off tonight at the Brooklyn Museum with a swanky party and the requisite performance by Kanye West. If you're going, make sure your handbag or cleavage has room for a credit card because you'll have ample opportunity to purchase Vuitton goods before you even walk through the door. In a courageous statement against counterfeit handbags, real Louis Vuitton handbags and the new Monogramoflauge canvases will be sold on ten tables outside the museum. You know, street-vendor style. "We think that by highlighting it in a happening way and not in a boring way, it will make everybody more aware," Yves Carcelle, chairman and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton told WWD. So … the idea is that if an unaware tourist tries to buy a bag thinking she can afford it, the cashiers can cry "Ha-ha! Gotcha!" and then give her a pamphlet about the counterfeit industry? There are going to be a lot of embarrassed people in Brooklyn tonight.

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
Not so sure if I am feeling this or not...Doesn't appear too awful creative...I mean I could have taken one of my husband's hunting shirts and drew the LV patterns all over it...
When they said Monogramoflauge I thought it would be something very creative...this is a little bland.
On the other hand, my husband likes camoflauge and so maybe he will buy me one of these thinking its cool...hey...if it's an LV, I will take it...
NOw that I think of it they should have used the new camoflague pattern that they have for the desert...it has a more graphical appearance to it...
I think what they should have done to make a big hype is say that during the duration of the exibit that a certain amount of the proceeds of each monogramoflage bag would go to one of the charities that supports families of soldiers who died or were seriously hurt in Iraq...

Re: Louis Vuitton Monogramoflauge Article
Just showed my hubby and he really likes it...looks like I might be getting a Monogramoflague bag for my b-day (June 21)
He said we could go up to New York for our vacation, as long as we can take the AmTrak...we were going to go up to a lake in North Western Arkansas which is very peaceful...Not sure what I want to do...relax or go to New York...
