Default Taking care of purses

How do you guys keep your push down closures from getting scratched up? I have made sure to keep the button pushed in while closing/opening my purse, but notice some minor scratches. You can't see them from looking at the purse unless you have direct light on it and look close

Also, I noticed that some pictures of bags on ebay show a bit darker leather...will the leather on my bag darken as it ages? Is that normal?

Should I keep the bag stuffed as well? It didn't come with stuffing in it when I got it at LV, but I want to make sure to keep my princess pristine for years to come.

I'm not sure about the hardware question. But about the leather: Yes, the vachetta will eventually acquire a beautiful patina as it oxidizes over time. I think Louis Vuitton bags look gorgeous after the leather has started to change. LV says you're not suppose to treat the leather but from what I've read and seen, I think that if you use the right products and do it correctly, it's a good idea. boysRsmelly actually did a post on a product that was specifically made for the leather handles/vachetta trim on Vuitton bags, and also an antibacterial treatment. Here are the links: Lovin' My Bags: For Handles Only, Antibacterial Leather Cleaner
Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for the info, Alicia. I am going back to LV in Nashville next week I think (work is crazy hectic and currently I am on the other side of Tennessee **blah**) and so I will ask them about the hardware. It was the only thing about my purse I was worried about, but I couldn't resist it...Maybe I will just carry it on special occasions and go buy a regular monogram bag that zips.

I want to get the Damier Azur, will the leather on that handbag get darker? I noticed the leather looks lighter than normal or is that just because the other bags are so dark (brown) that the leather appears lighter on the Damier Azur? I HATE the light leather, I love it when the handbag has the beautiful patina!!!
Is there a way to make the leather turn quicker? At LV they told me to put it in the sun. A friend told me to put baby oil on the handles and stick it in the microwave but I was too scared to do that...

^^^Yeah... the vachetta leather on the damier azur will also patina with time... I hate the light leather look too.... especially fresh-out-of-the-boutique leather... My poor Lockit is experiencing that right now... she ain't tooo pretty... lol....

As for the baby oil and the microwave.... omg... don't do it!! Well, at least I wouldn't have the guts to...

If you are going to try the baby oil in the microwave thing...I wouldn't do it with a purse that costs over $100...LOL...

I liked the lighter leather on my bag...but I guess I will just have to see how it looks when it gets darker.

Uuuuggh!!! (sigh) Why did I ever even mention the baby oil and the microwave?!?!?!? I said my friend suggest it...that doesnt mean that I am going to do it!

I'm not crazy yall!

I just dont use my purse enough, I dont carry it but like once a month, maybe. Cause I am always switching up. And at that rate its going to take FOREVER for my bag to get darker! I just want a safe recommendation to speed up the patina.
Using a LV with the light leather is like driving a car with paper tags...everyone knows that you just got it. Eeewww...I hate that!

This can also help the patina not get too dark.
