Default Murakami Museum?

So I have an audtion in NY. I'll be there for 5 days. I was thinking about going to the Murakami Museum... but it was released they will only be selling CURRENT MC items... and they will be selling Monoflage but not until June 1st. So pretty much the pop up shop won't have anything exciting till June 1st. Is it even worth it? I thought it was gonna be like MOCA and they would have limited edition stuff right away. What do you think?

I know its the same exhibit as moca, they are organizing it for the brooklyn museum, but I'm not sure about the limited edition stuff, I haven't heard anything about that matter. I'm going up to see it, possibly the weekend it opens but I have no money for anything right now My new LV "must have" is a monogram shawl in champagne, I might just ask for that as my birthday present though. I love Murakami's stuff, being an art student I've done a few projects about him and this trip will fill in for a research paper topic as well, so I think it would still be a worthwhile trip, tickets are only $10, $8 if you have a valid student ID. The shop may still have some neat stuff, there were some cute pins and stationary on eBay from the LA show.

Where did you read this?? I read a press release today that said they were only selling every MC piece... and since they are actually introducing the Monoflage at the Brooklyn Museum.. that they were waiting until June 1st to release any limited editions. It said they chose to sell the Monoflage there because only select stores will be getting that collection.

Dani if you go please let me know if they have pieces! According to the press release he has decided not to release a new character or have anything with little characters on it for LV.

I will let you know for sure! I really want to try to get up there on the 5th, my boyfriend is going to Florida that weekend for golf, so I want to take a trip to NY, and if I get a lot of my school projects knocked out I'm definately going.

Even though I have absolutely NO spending money now I would love to pick up something cute if they have any limited edition stuff, even if its just a coin purse to throw my jewelry in my bag. That sucks they aren't having any character stuff, that my favorite, I LOVE the panda, and I wanted a Chibi Kinoko agenda SOOOOOOOOOOO badly, but I couldnt get to LA or afford the ones on eBay so I just got the regular MC one.

marissa, i read a piece posted in the ny post

here's the full article:

The Brooklyn Museum has finally confirmed it will host a pop-up Louis Vuitton shop to coincide with its Takashi Murakami exhibit starting next month. They've also put select items online to whet your appetite until the exhibit kicks off on April 4, like the super-adorable cushions and T-shirt above. But the real stars of the store will be the "monogramouflage" Vuitton handbags, which will sport a new monogram pattern created by Murakami. Images of the collection haven't been released, but we're kind of hoping the flower products online are a sneak preview. They could very well pop up in some form on the new Vuitton goods. Then again Marc Jacobs and Murakami could throw customers a curveball and cover the new bags in funny pink anime faces. We can't wait!

I read a press release.. that listed everything they will be selling. It listed all that stuff... and it listed a lot of MC items.. then it had said on June 1st it will also be one of the boutiques selling the Monoflage collection. I will have to find the press release that said that. But whatever doesn't matter. I can get the Monoflage stuff at my store if I really want it. Hopefully we start seeing pix next week of what it looks like.

If only select stores get the new collection, will it be the stores in "high fashion" areas such as Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Vegas, etc? Will some of the more rural and easier to get to stores for people like me (Nashville, Atlanta, Raleigh, St. Louis, Etc) get them as well? Also...if you can't make it to one of those stores, could you still secure a piece? You said they don't order online but can you call a store that has the piece and have them send it to you?

I have no idea what stores will get the Monoflage pieces. You probably could call a popular store and get on the list to get one. They said the Mirior was going to be select stores... but my huge store and very tiny itzy bitzy store got them. BUT.. the big store got all the pieces in whereas my small store.. only got the speedy and the papillion no Alma's or keepalls. So ya never know... call the vuitton number and ask. I'm dying to see what it looks likes!

This may be a stupid question, but do people pay more now for the vintage limited editions from the past, than they do for the current ones?

Well, if you are asking about buying one from LV.. FORGET IT!!! LV does not sell anything the previous season. Once the season is over , so are the peices. But on sites like e-bay I guess.
