    Default Made in the USA?

So don't judge me... I'm an owner of now 3 LV bags. I don't think I have ever looked at my two older ones (last one purchased maybe 4 years ago?) but I just purchased the Speedy 30 from the LV Store in Vegas and saw that on the lock it says "Paris" but on the leather tab it says "USA"...

I was never aware of LV being made in the USA. Coming from a garment background - is it possible that the fabrics are made in Paris and then assembled in the USA? I'm also curious as to WHERE in the USA? I might have to go on a robbery mission :)

It's true. The LV factory is located in San Dimas, CA. The fabric is produced and the bags are assembled there. The made in USA items are specific to the American market. Since these are only for domestic purchase, I always felt their price increase were unfair.

Being that you come from a garment background, I'm sure you know how much cheaper items are when they are produced and sold within one location. No More Increases!

The 'Paris' on the LV lock is much like the "New York" that follows Donna Karan...it's a heritage marking.

Paris would be expensive, but the US isn't much cheaper. I'm surprised they haven't all headed to China. When I start back up my company, it's going to be a real dilemna for me. I dont' want to head overseas, but the difference in labor is substantial.

My Speedy30, Cabas Piano, Neverfull and Musette Tango were all Made in USA. They all say "Louis Vuitton Paris" but Made in USA. I only have a couple of things made in France...the Florentine Clutch , Pouchette, and my luggage tag.
