Question Need a LV expert! Concerned about sloppy trim...

Hi, I am hoping to get some help with my new Ebay purchase-LV petite bucket $325
I just got it in and I am concerned about the trim details; my dooneys seem to have better craftmanship!! Please take a look at the pics I posted and let me know. I want to send it in to have the top/bottom trim and handles replaced, but don't want to be embarrassed by them sending it back w/ a note saying it's a fake Also, has anyone had trim replaced, is this a very expensive process?? If more/better quality pics are needed, let me know.

THANKS in advance for any help on this

Hi Mandi...This bag doesn't look too good to me. I agree that the trim looks sloppy but some of that can be attributed to age/use. Also, the chaps (handle part attached to bag) are a bit uneven, although, it could just be from the photo angle. On the left chap, I can see the center of the clover (the symbol it's partially covering on the lower right side). On the right chap, the clover center is completely covered. Everything should always be equidistant to about 1/32 of an inch. Do you have photos of the inner labels?

I haven't had any experience in getting trims replaced but I'm sure it isn't cheap. You should call your local LV to check for services. I know some stores (like Balenciaga) will ask you if your purchase was made in their shop before considering repairs. Others (like Dior) will only service items within the last 3 years. Each location/sales associate might have their own policies so it would be best to check around.

Thanks for your reply, I will take some inside pics and post ASAP! Oh, I'm getting out the ruler... Please check back in a minute, this is totally stressing me. I just got it in yesterday and it was sent to me all folded up, which pissed me off and made me start to wonder.......

I fixed your post so the images would show...
Um, I don't really see any huge red flags. I would need to see the heat stamp and date code, pictures of the interior, etc to be sure. Mandi, which Clover are you talking about? I don't see the one that is covered up and the one that isn't... the one that looks like its not there is hidden in the reflection of light... I think. Anyways, we need more pictures.
So you say you paid $325 for this bag? You know Let Trade has one for $319.99 (including shipping) and its in WAY better condition that this one.

Okay, here are some more pics....

Laluella, I have posted more of the handles, what do you think??

boysRsmelly, thanks for fixing the pics, is there something I need to do to have them show like that?? Also, it wasn't me talking about the clovers, I don't know anything about the placement, etc... Thanks for the other site, I will check into it, cause, this bag is not what I thought I was getting.

Oh... please don't ask for any more pics, I can't stand to go near it, it stinks soooooooo bad!!!!!!!

The clover issue I was talking about was due to the lighting and angle of the photo. After the second set of photos, I can see the detail more clearly...

    ^From first set

    ^From second set

I always check for symmetry because LV wouldn't let a bag with more than 1/32" difference pass quality control. Their bags are not difficult to construct so all the attention is in the details. The seam to the leather trim is placed correctly (right above the chap because the handle will cover it). Most fakes won't bother with such little details. If this bag is authentic, I think $325 was unfortunately too much because of it's condition.

What are the seller's terms? Did she describe the bag accurately? Did she post adequate photos?

Mandi, the reason your pics aren't showing up is because you were pasting in an HTML code. This only works on websites, not forums. A picture can be displayed simply by placing the picture's website address between these [IMG][/IMG], which can also be produced by clicking on the picture button (yellow with mountains) and pasting the url there.

Anyways, I agree with laluella. The bag looks authentic, but the price was a bit much considering the condition. Like I said, Let-Trade has one that is in MUCH better condition than that. I hope you're not too disappointed in your bag... if you are, what was the seller's return policy?

WOW!!! You guys are great I appreciate all of the help, I'm glad that it's not a fake, I was a little worried for a moment! Thank you for taking the time to help with the pics and info on how to post and for pointing out the symetry issue (cool how you drew on the pics)!!!! I will mail it in to change the trim (no LV in my area), hopefully, it's not too expensive or I'll just have to try and use a cleaner-they had a great thread a while back on cleaning!!!

Sorry it took so long for me to post back, I had to take the kids to the Mardi Gras parade(it's a southern thing)!! THANKS AGAIN everyone

You're welcome! I hope it doesn't cost too much to have the trim replaced either... that LV certainly looks like it took a beating!

HEY!! I just did a search and found an older thread, which talked about replacing handles, etc... They indicated it was about $130; therefore, I'm thinking the trim couldn't be too much more since it's a lot less leather?? I also found some other great information on using a magic eraser! So, I'll just try to clean it up
    THANKS-Mandi

After I purchased my speedy from the NYC boutique on 5th ave, I noticed that when comparing sides of the front of the bag, one side was slightly more covered by the seam with leather trim then the other side...if that makes sense. And there was definitely more than a 1/32" difference. I called the customer service number and spoke with a lady who explained to me that this was normal, for a speedy anyways. I was a little annoyed that they weren't exact and I wasn't able to exchange it because I live back in CT. Oh well, I still LOVE my bag...

my Speedy looks perfectly symmetrical. it's the Damier so it's i'm sure easier to do than the monogram.
