I want one of these. I am going to use my bag fund to buy one as it is just sitting and waiting. The question is where to get one.
PurseLady, you ordered yours from a store in Hawaii? How did that work out, I mean was it a big hassle?
The other option for me is that I have a good friend from high school stationed in Yokosuka, Japan which is the US Naval Base outside of Tokyo. If these are out in Japan, he can definitely get me one. Problem is the shipping - he cant send anything to the US in large packages for some reason. He would have to omit the box and wrapping, and sort of fold it up to make it fit. The plus side is that he wouldnt charge me any shipping or anything since he could just mail it from the office.
The MM is about $650 + tax in Hawaii, in Japan it's about $100 more, so the GM would be around $800 depending on exchange rates. I was damn lucky to get mine. A friend happened to be waitlisted at two stores to make sure she got one, but when they finally released the supply was more than what was waitlisted for. However, the boutiques are super strict about who they sell to to keep this a limited release and avoid reselling. She was able to get the two only because her husband (not her) picked up hers as a surprise, so she went to another boutique and got mine herself. SA's will NOT ship to mainland, regardless if you've had previous purchases with them. If you really want one there's pretty much only two options.. paying over retail via ebay or vacationing in Hawaii.
You should really try it on first. I was all set for the GM, but when the monogram ones came out I tried it on and it was really too big. Unless you want to be the chick carrying a beach bag everywhere... which is fine, but with the sides out the MM is plenty big.
Girls, I told myself my monogram manhattan was the ONLY "brown" Louis I would own, but now that I see this Damier I adore it!! "curlsgalore" give me some ideas on how to save for my purse fund as you do.....what exactly is your plan for saving for your next bag everyone??
^^^I dont make a lot of many at ALL, but I was lucky enough to get a nice Christmas bonus, plus when I resign my contract (I moved it up to June instead of August) I will get a months salary as a bonus for staying. I also have Way2Save on my Wachovia account, an ING savings account that all the bag funds go into to accrue intrest, and I often sell items on ebay for more than I bought them for. The overage goes into savings. I am hankering to spend it NOW because I have never been able to save this much money before and I know the longer it sits the more likely I am to have some emergency that needs to be funded. Plus when my accounts are reviewed for financial aid in August I cannot have more in savings then I reported to the school. Believe me, this was a total savings fluke!
Oh, and thanks for the advice PurseLady. I am 5'10 so I always carry a large bag, and its cant be any larger than my MO Ditch so I think thats what Ill go for.
Our friends who got married in Hawaii 2 years ago are going back very soon for their anniversary, his parents are coming and his mom is a crazy LV lady so maybe I will ask her to work her magic for me.
