I ladies, I'm new to this and hope I'm in the right spot but could use some help. Can someone tell me how you can tell a fake from a real?

well. if you had a picture or a particular bag in mind it would be alot easier to show what's wrong with the bag

I found it on ebay and it is listed as a like, she got it as a gift. She doesn't know about LV bags! Maybe you can take a look for me. Item #270127767098

Well... there's not much to see in that picture. But I can tell you this... if that is supposed to be a Cabas Mezzo or Cabas Piano (they don't give a style name) then the trim leading from the handles is not supposed to extend all the way down the side of that bag like that. Compare it to these:

Plus... why on earth would you start your LV off at $10 for a starting bid with no reserve. Makes you think a little bit...

yeah, i've never seen this style from LV either (with the handle-trim extending all the way down to the bottom). the feedback for this seller is a good indication too that this may not be real. also, why are these sellers so lazy sometimes to take additional pictures of their items? it'd be nice to see more pics when authenticating bags-like for LV bags, for instance, the font on the leather tag, close-up of the stitching and hardware, date code, etc. is it so much to ask for from these sellers?

ETA: actually, the seller does state the auction as "Louis Vuitton-Style Leather Shoulder Bag".....so i'm almost confident it's NOT an ACTUAL LV bag

I confirmed it with the Know-Knockoffs people. It's definitely a fake. That style does not exist (at least not with the trim extending all the way down from that handles like that anyway).

Anyway, I agree with Madison... you need lots of pictures of the item to help you determine whether a bag is authentic or not. If the fake is very convincing... you need to look at the font of the heat stamp, the date code, the stitching, etc etc.
