Default LV "Natural Cowhide Leather" worries me. Is that valid?

    Hello fellow LV fans,

To me the LV monogram & especially the Multicolore is really gorgeous.

What's stopping me from buying them is the aftermath of the natural cowhide leather after years of use. I've seen old LV bags and it's not a pretty sight for me. That's why I stick to the Damier for my first LV bag. (i've had a pouchette & really love its durability & waterproof-ness.)

I'm planning to purchase another bag but am not sure which one - yet. My budget is about $1,300.00 tops. To me this is a real splurge as I have not spent that much for a bag.

    thanks very much!

If you're worried about the darkening of the handles... there is stuff you can buy to help slow the process down.

    For Handles Only
Oil inhibiting product that will prevent leather handles from darkening. BEST SELLER

As for what bag to get... you could easily afford a mono speedy or alma on your budget. You would have to think a little smaller if you wanted a multicolor bag since they cost more. You could get an audra, an aurelia, a lodge, or a marylin.

i'm sticking to longer handled bags as i find it difficult to shop with shorter handled ones. I got a lacoste hobo with adjustable strap (can be lengthened into a crossover) and when i took it with me on a 2 week journey (i survived with only one bag!) it was so easy to use.

yeah the multicolore is really pricey. maybe i'll just wait til LV releases a handle color that stays - look at the dentelle (not my cup of tea though).

    more suggestions please!!!!

    thanks!

Yes! All of their stuff is great! Its different from what you can buy at a store because they don't darken "naked" leathers like regular leather products do.

I LOVE MY AUDRA!!!! It's a GREAT BAG. It's my fave bag from the MC collection closely followed by the Speedy. I just had it on yesterday... and I love the fact NO ONE has it! It's perfect.... it's like the speedy just more of a stylish look! Great bag in my opinion!! I LOVE THE AUDRA!!!

I've also one more question - if you see someone with a fantastic bag like an LV, or a dior flying economy class, what do you think?

i fly economy & really, don;t have that much money to burn. besides i'm calculating all the bags i can buy if we (husband + 2 kids) fly economy/coach......

    thanks :)

I fly coach.. and I have lots of expensive things... big deal. You shouldn't care what other people think at all. I don't give a %#@! what people say about me. I have lots of expensive bags and purses, but I'm not rich. The way I see it... fly coach.. more money to spend on LV. That's why I fly on planes that don't have a 1st class and 2nd class... like Jet Blue... everyone is on the same boat. I always sit in the back though. I figure... if the plane goes down.. I have a better chance at TRYING to survive than the people in the front!

But seriously... you really shouldn't care what others think... my Mother is a Puerto Rican New Yorker... she always told me "Never care what others say or think about you... and if they have something to say you simply tell them to..." I think you can finish the sentence.. lol!

Nope... I have never put anything on the straps. I do make sure the sun doesn't hit it much so nothing fades. The colors on the canvas do fade if you abuse it.... well that's what my SA told me.

    In my bag I put:
    1. Makeup bag
    2. Hairbrush
    3. Nintendo DS
    4. Cell phone
    5. Little MC wallet
    6. MC change wallet
    7. 2 hairclips
    8. iPod
    9. Headphone
    10. Sunglasses
    11. On occasion... my pink coach umbrella

Doesn't look it.. but it's very roomy!!!
