Default Disappointed in Louis Vuitton Repairs

I don't know what gives. I am never buying a Louis Vuitton guy product ever again. First let me start with Daniel's wallet that I purchased for him a while back. After about a year the pipping broke then as a result of not being bordered the leather started to crack. Took it in and Louis Vuitton said there is nothing that could be done at that point. Fine. I get it, we probably waited a little bit too long after the pipping started to break to bring it in.

Fast forward to today. Daniel's Louis Vuitton Daniel Messenger Bag- the seaming on the strap started to come on done. The leather piece that connects to the fabric shoulderstrap. I can take pictures when we get it back- it's in transit back to the store. Anyway, so they quoted us $104 for the stitching + a whole new hardware piece that connects to the bag and said we would get the bag back within (i think it was) 4-6 weeks. 6 weeks later, today, they finally call us and say the bag was rejected for repairs, and that the whole fabric strap needs to be replaced. WTF, there's nothing wrong with the strap. That would cost all and all, about $400 to repair. Literally, the bag only needs 4 stitches! It does not need the strap replaced. So we said forget it.. going to try and find someone else to do it..

So upset with Louis Vuitton. I am never buying a guy product from them again.

    That's disappointing Jennifer.
Did they give a reason for thinking it needed to be replaced? Seems a bit odd.

I kinda feel like they probably do this a lot.. If something isn't in brand new condition. That way you buy newer one?

Seems like that is a common business strategy. Make it just as easy, if not easier, to buy a new one. That way you just buy a new one instead on getting something fixed. You know, they do that with appliances too.

How horrible. I've never had to deal with LV repairs, etc. I have an idea what to expect from them if I ever had to. I've had repairs done at Chanel, they had great customer service.

INSANE. So what started out as the worst customer service in my whole life, when dealing with a Luxury house, actually turned into the best. Let's fastforward from all above-- we got the bag back, TODAY! Took long enough, huh? Only 16 weeks later...

After being rejected for repairs they sent the bag back to Louis Vuitton Seattle. Someone from the store called us and said it was a mistake and that they should have fixed it. And they did. They replaced the whole strap AND hardware for ONLY $104. They paid for the strap and additional hardware.

Here's something else too worth mentioning. The hardware is completely different. I likely think that the reason for the bag being reject for repairs was because since I purchased the Daniel Messenger, there was been at least 2 other versions that have come out since then- hardware changes included. On Daniel's Daniel Bag before, the hardware was D shaped (or maybe it was round- I'll have to look up old photos), and now it's a square. And I think the strap had more of a grey-ish tint to it, now it's black-black (but that could be from years of wear?)

So happy you finally got the bag back and that it was repaired! I'm Guessing the reason it took so long is maybe they had to send it to Paris..

This has been such a crazy experience. We had to send his Daniel Bag back to Louis Vuitton. It's been 11 + weeks and still no word as to when it will be completed. Kinda sucks. Blogged about it.

Wow! I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience. I returned a piece this past summer, due to a defect. I compared two additional products and both had flaws. I walked out of the store empty handed and haven't made a purchase since.
Something is lacking in recent quality control.
