I looked at it... I don't see anything unusual about the bag. The alignment looks a little odd on the front... but it could just be a wave in the fabric. It's kinda hard to tell. The cherries are in the correct format though.
What concerns me though is that this seller has 4 as a feedback score (and all of it is from them buying something from other people). I am always wary of newbie sellers I guess.

Thats what I was thinking. I personally would hold off for a little bit. Because even though it may be an authentic bag, you never know these days.

Re: Louis Vuitton Handbag: Please help authenticate purse!
I was just given a retired LV Cherry and have been trying to get more info on it and have been very unsuccessful. If I attach a picture could someone give me some info? I even tried calling LV and the girl was very vague and didn't want to give me any info. I know it's from the Spring 2005 collection but that is about it. Thanks!!

Sweetie, it's a fake. They never made such a style.

Besides the style not existing? Well, the alignment is very poor for one thing. Let's say, for argument's sake, that this was an actual style made by LV. On the bottom of the bag, there is a seam. The pattern would be lined up on both sides of the seam on an authentic bag. Also, look at the pockets. The placement of the pattern would be exactly the same on both pockets. In addition, the buckle looks like its not made very well. Really LV bags with a buckle like that would come together firmly, instead loosely fitting like the one in your picture. I hope that helps you some, however, the fact that this style was never made is a dead giveaway. The other things wrong and just general characteristics that would be true for all LV styles.

Thanks so much, I learned alot about LV. The pockets didn't seem right to me them being snaps and all but the buckle does fit tightly, I just had it unbuckled so you could see the wording underneath. With a fake, would there be numbers on the inside that they would try and pass off as the location and date stamp? Thanks for all your help, I didn't realize how much there was to know about a true LV.
Re: Louis Vuitton Handbag: Please help authenticate purse!
hello momof2princesses, Im sorry that you were given this fake. Alot of fakes do have datecodes, this is very sad for me and others who work for Louis Vuitton. In my friends office yesturday I see two fakes which have been brought in for testing. Some fakes are very high quality and some fakes are not. In your case this is low quality and it is easy to tell, this is lucky for you because it wouldn't be nice to use a fake thinking that it was real. Maybe you can buy real cerise bag from a resale site, if you love this pattern??.

Yes, some fakers do put fake (and sometimes even correct) date codes inside the bags. Most of the time they don't... but they are getting more and more accurate all the time. Obviously if it is a style that does not exist, then the date code would not be a correct one. If you're looking at a bag that is a real style, then the location of the date code would be consistent with every other bag that style as well. Also, limited edition collections are usually only made during one season, so the year part of the code would be the same for all the styles within that collection (the months can be different though). I think there was link to Fashionphile's date code guide posted in one of the threads. It give a lot more info on date codes in general.
Oh, and I was talking about the buckle in the picture of the entire side of the bag. It is buckled there, right? It looks crooked.

Yeah, I've heard of super fakes that are really hard to tell from the real thing. Don't experts at LV have to go over the bag with a fine tooth comb just to figure out if its real or not? Like counting the number of stitches on various parts of the bag?
