Hey everyone, I have a couple questions about authenticating a louis vuitton...

- do all louis vuitton bags, even the clutches and evening bags have date codes?
- were the bags ever produced and marked "made in england"

I don't think LV products are made in England.... from what I know they only make them in the USA....France and Spain.... and I believe all LV products have a datecode.... some might wear out with age or be difficult to notice( speaking for those that have the datecode heat stamped in the inside lining) ... but they all have it....

Viva- Yep I agree with you... but there is an exception to the date code rule... there are some really old vintage ones floating around that don't have them.

nope no LV says made in england
they should have a datecode (dont think older ones do though)
even items as small as a cles have date codes

the vintage LVs (like in the 80s) have different date codes (like three numbers followed by 2 letters-rather than the current order of 2 letters identifying location and 4 numbers following indicating month and year). i don't know of any bags produced and heatstamped "Made in England"....

The only LV that I know of that does not have a date code is the baby Pap that comes with Mommy Pap 30.

If you buy the baby Pap separately, it does have a date code - not sure if the ones that come with their Mommys have them now too as mine was purchased years ago...

LA USA bags, pretty much retired. There has been this date code on a Boulogne 30, Montsouris Moyen and Papillon 26. and a Speedy 30 with LA made in the USA

SD France prior to approx. 1995. After opening of San Dimas, CA, SD will be USA

also I heard that LV is now making the speedy bags witht he upside down LV's on the back is that ture?

The date code on speedys is typically found underneath the flap that creates the interior flap pocket. It is stamped on the piece of leather that backs where the handle is attached (hope that makes sense). The coated-cotton fabrics usually have the dark brown canvas as a lining. And yes, the logos are supposed to be upside-down on the back side because one continuous piece of fabric is used.
