Is it tarnished? Would a jewelry cloth work?

No but will that take the green residue away and make it shine. I've heard if you can use tooth paste or some kind of brass cleaner to take off the green residue but I'm scared that will mess it up totally is there anything you can get from louis Vuitton and clean it?

Brasso works but it is pretty strong stuff and it can get messy! I have found a product that works extremely well on Louis Vuitton brass and I found it at Home Depot. It is called Weiman Silver Wipes. With Brasso, if any of it gets on the leather, it is not so easy to remove but if you do use Brasso, use Q Tips. With the Weiman Silver Wipes, in the instructions on the jar it also indicates that it works with brass. Twenty wipes which are moist are included and I find the best thing to do is to cut the wipes into smaller pieces to give you better control to try to avoid the leather. I recently purchased a fifteen year old burgundy Louis Vuitton President Classeur briefcase with brass hardware and I'm sure the brass had never been cleaned. The brass certainly had quite the antique patina. After much thought, I decided to clean it with the Weiman wipes and it turned out beautifully. If any of the Weiman solution does get on the leather, it can be removed with a damp cloth using warm water. I hope this helps!

031.jpg I just cleaned mine with Brasso and Q Tips. To get the green off, re-apply a little fresh Brasso, wait 30 seconds then wipe it clean with a tissue paper or a soft cloth.
