Default So I Got an Interview!

It's on Friday at 11:30am at the 5th Ave store.

I only have 3 weeks of retail experience with Bloomie's since I was just seasonal, so I know that doesn't really help me out all that much. So now I need advice. This is a whole different kind of interview. The other interviews I've been on have been for media and advertising, not for high end sales! What kinds of questions do you think they'll ask? What should I say to make sure they know that even though I lack experience in length of time in retail, I know a whole lot about the brand and know what people like?

This is going to be hard!

    OMG, that is sooo awesome!

I have never had a "high end sales" interview, but I'm sure they should ask you questions on customer service! Knowing a lot about the brand will be a plus.

They may ask you questions about how you feel about sales goals and what you would do to meet those goals. Even though they are all about customer service, meeting a sales quota may be a big part of the job.

I'm going to be zero help with the type of questions they might ask. The only piece of advise I really have, which you're going to have zero problem with, is know the brand. Like Pronunciation, collections, history, etc.
(But more importantly ^^^ sales position..I agree with BRS^)

Anyways I'm so happy for you Alex.. that would be such a fun job!

Since you worked in marketing and advertising before, mention some of the skills you learned/used there. I think knowing a lot about the brand is a huge plus since there's no better way to sell something when you know what you're selling. Good luck, I hope you get the job! That's awesome!!! I'm so excited for you!

    Thanks girls!

I've been doing my research so I can be as knowledgeable as possible. I feel like some of the people who work at that store don't have that much "high end" experience, and some of them don't know how to pronounce things, so I know I'll be ok on that part.

I also know three girls, one who was a manager, who worked at the LV in Richmond, so I asked them for some advice, too.

So I just picked out my outfit. One of my friends/SAs/girls I messaged said to wear what they wear - a black suit, simple makeup, hair pulled back.

This was all the advice I was given by them:

    • Just tell them that you are by far an ambassador for the company. Make yourself knowledgeable about LV history. HR loves that.
    • Make sure to mention these things:
    • Love working one on one with clients
    • Love telling people the history behind each name that we give our bags (make sure you can give some examples) you like to educate the client
    • You know how to not only sell a bag to a client but also let them know about all of the other accessories that go with it.
    • Fast learner
    • If there is an unhappy client you always do whatever you can to make sure that they leave the store wanting to come back.
    • Make it clear to them that you love to see clients come in, that have saved money for that perfect bag and walk out wanting to come back in for more because of the excellent service that you give.

    • Make sure you know the history and products (which you already do!).
    • I know that when I interviewed people for the company they wanted people who looked professional, had an outgoing personality, and knew the brand.
    • Just play up that you like working retail and that you worked during the holiday season.

    • Say things like:
    • You were drawn to LV because of it's history (if you haven't already, learn a little history about LV)...
    • You are a "people person" and are great at building trust and long term relationships with clients....
