So I know LV does repairs. But do they do repairs on your leather??? Like will they replace all the Vanchetta (is that what its called?) if you want yours changed?? I was on the internet somewhere and I read that! Also does a repair cost money???
Are you talking about like handle replacement? I've always wondered that, it might be pricey though, like almost as much as getting a new bag. What type of bag is it for btw?
hey marissa I just called the 866 number and they said that your local louis vuitton store would have the answer on replacement price and everything for you.
I think replacing the handles is such a great idea, esp if your bag is 3+ years old. How long have you had your audra btw? It looks awesome btw to me.
Replacement, esp. on vachetta, can be very pricey. I know handles can be cheap on small top handles like speedies and almas, but they're outrageously overpriced for longer handles like the buckets and batignolles. You should take the bag to the boutique and they can make an estimate for you (and you'll fill out a form if you decide to do it). I know that if the parts aren't available on your bag (esp. if the bag doesn't appear in the LV catalog), LV won't repair it.
Repairs can last for as little as 3 weeks (like the lining on my bucket) to as much as 10 weeks! It's even worse on the holidays, from what I hear. Costs can also vary based on how easy and available supplies are to fix the bag. For example, a wallet would be very difficult to repair, and you're probably better off buying a new one. Vachetta handles on a speedy will be easy, but if you are interested in replacing the piping (which is the vachetta on the edge of the bag), it's REALLY expensive because they have to take the bag apart and sew it up again.
I only know due to experience with the LV boutique.
Well, to replace straps on the bucket (which is what I have), it's about $200 each! Forget that, I'd rather get a new bag, LOL.
I don't have the speedy, but I know that replacing handles can cost approx. $75 dollars for each handle. That's actually not bad.
I knew of one girl who replaced all the vachetta on the speedy 25. Because of the piping, it cost her more than $300! That's more than half of the retail for the actual bag! I personally don't think it's worth it, esp. if the bag is still in good condition.
Well my bag was $1,350... now it's $1,390...and it looks like on Febuary 1st... it going to be over $1,400.... it's better for me just to replace the Vanchetta.. than to buy a new bag. I couldn't afford to drop down $1,400 on the same bag again! I want the Priscilla... so pretty.
^Oh no, hon, I didn't mean you should replace your MC bag (I know MC can be very expensive). I wanted to point out that repairs can be very expensive. In the case of the speedy (which was a mono, I might add), I don't think it was even worth it. She could've sold the bag at that price and just buy a brand new one.
Perhaps I should wait another year or so. I just hate when my bags don't look like they are in perfect condition. I would love to know how much the replacement Vanchetta on an AUDRA would cost. I have 2 little hard handles... and 4 pieces of leather on the upper bag... and 4 pieces of leather on the bottom of the bag... oh goodness..... CHRISTMAS GIFT... LOL.. get my bag done over!
Well, from what it sounds like, I don't think it'll be that bad. As long as the vachetta pieces aren't huge and aren't piping, the price shouldn't cost you much.
Just take your bag to the boutique and ask for a quote. It doesn't hurt to try, and you're not obligated to let them send it off to repairs. :)
