    Default Is she too young?

My daughter is 6 she wanted a LV for her B-day we said no. I'm thinking I could get a mini speedy on malleries or somewhere. Is she way too young?

I think 6 is a very-very young age. But hey, if she loves purses and knows LV, then why not right. What about a hand-me-down?

lol, yeah I was actually thinking the same thing. I don't have any children. I do have a 6 year old niece but that's about it.. and I honestly don't see her sporting an LV anytime soon. Unless, I don't know for dress up or something.

No... too young. She doen't even know what LV is... she just wants to copy you. Unless she understands the value of a dollar, and a doubt a 6 yr old does, she shouldn't have an LV bag.

I don't see a problem with buying one second hand and small. I think it would be a great way to teach her to be responsible with her handbags!

I had my first LV bag, the Mini HL, when I was very young. My mom would only let my sister and I wear ours for special occasions. Maybe a used Mini HL would be okay, since it wouldn't be that expensive.

I don't have kids, and from experience in baby sitting my BFF's girls, I think six yrs. old sounds a bit too young for a $200+ handbag. Then again, only you would know how responsible your daughter is. If you do decide on getting her an LV, the Mini HL or Pochette would be a great choice. Keep us updated!

I've had similar discussions with friends who have children. Opinions vary of course but what most of us agree on is that if a child ask for an expensive item, to ask first why they want it. In this case, is it because her friends have one or because she wants to be like mummy or that she just wants a bag?
To be like her friends, it's a no to me. To be like mummy, maybe negotiable but just as everyone else says preloved, smallest bag you can find and if it's too expensive (for me, above $50 is already too much for a 6 years old) , she has to co-finance (from allowance or earn it).
Of course if it's just a bag that she wants, there's no need to get an LV, just a cute bag that she loves should do
I do think though she may be too young to appreciate it

i have no two opinions about it: a kid of six is WAY too young to have such an expensive designer handbag.
6 is too young to understand the value or worth of the handbag. they barely know what the various denominations mean and they have no concept of expensive or cheap. Nor do they understand that money is earned through hardwork.
I have young children and lots of nephews and nieces and i would never buy them an expensive designer item or let them receive it as a gift. at that age they need to focus their energy and attention on building their character and learning good values such as helping others, not being mean and being respectful, rather than initiate them to a materialistic way of thinking.

But that's just my opinion...no offense intended

I have a daughter who is 10 and I would not buy her a bag that costs that much.I got her a Harajuku Lovers bag on sale last year and she did well with it but now it is in her closet somewhere. LOL I think they are just too young to appreciate a bag that costs alot.

I think I will get a mini for me and her to share. She can use it when we go someplace special then it will go on my bag shelf. She def knows some brands totally my fault. 90% of her stuff comes from Juicy Couture I may get her a small JC bag I know Marshalls carries those fairly cheap.

so i was thinking about this... like i said i don't have kids so this is just random unfounded thought... someone suggested a price limit of 50, even 200 -- would we be so abhorrent to a toy/game/playset thing priced over these amounts? we argue that the kid doesn't understand the value/responsibility of the LV, but does she understand the value or responsiblity in having pricey 'age-appropriate' items? perhaps it is not so much the price of the LV, but intstead if it is really appropriate for a child of that age.

this is not a personal attack directed at anyone, just trying to look at it another way.

I understand your point of view Chickie :-)

However, I also have a rule of never buying any toy more than 50 bucks for my boys...age appropriate or not. The issue is not the item, the issue is the amount you would spend. They don't get a nintendo gamecube or Wii just b'coz everyone else has it. Although they will get more expensive toys earlier in life than they will get a designer item.

My view is toys or other age appropriate items are educative or teach something. I can't understand the educative value of a designer handbag or item for a child.

Let's leave it at each parent deciding what is best for their child in their opinion :-)

Hmmm yah I side with you there.
But I still think Miley Cyrus shouldn't have an LV bag so...
